School Dental Screenings

Last year, Niagara Region Public Health screened 38,836 elementary students. In accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards, the Dental Program is back at elementary schools to offer dental screenings. This school year the Dental Team is offering screenings to students in grades JK, SK, 2, 4, 7 and 8. The Dental Program is also offering kindergarten students fluoride varnish applications twice during the school year. Additionally, 30 schools have been offered preventive dental services through our Mobile Dental Clinic to all students.

Secondary students will have the opportunity to participate in free dental screenings at their school twice this year. Eligible students will be linked to Healthy Smiles Ontario.
