Finding the Mother Tree webinar

Hi friend!

Wow!  Thank you so much for joining us (or trying to join us) last night for a conversation with Suzanne Simard.  We were amazed and overwhelmed by the level of engagement and attendance—we maxed out our zoom room which has a capacity of 1,000 and over 100 of you joined us on Facebook at the same time! For those of you who couldn’t log on, we apologize and we are taking steps to make sure we have space for everyone who wants to join next time.

We would like to thank Dr. Simard for her candour and for reading from her book Finding the Mother Tree.  We raise our hands to Kwakwaka’wakw  artist Rande Cook for sharing his perspective on the ancient and intact forests in his territory.

As promised, here are some things you can do to consider this new way of seeing and continue the conversation.

Donate to protect forests
  • Please consider making a donation today to ensure we can continue to this important work.  Signing up for a monthly gift maximizes your impact and makes a commitment to holding a reciprocal relationship with forest communities here in B.C.

  • Want to get more involved?  Visit our Invitation to Action and share your gifts with us. Are you an artist? Innovator of ideas? Want to work with your family and friends to make a difference? This is the site that will connect you to the next steps.

  • Join us for our June 9  ‘Intact Forests, Safe Communities’ webinar to learn how you can protect your local community from climate risks such as wildfire, landslides and flooding.

  • Engage both sides of your brain with our “Learn to Draw: The Mother Tree” webinar with Drs. Julius Csotonyi and Suzanne Simard.

  • If you were not able to join us last night (or enjoyed the discussion so much you want to watch it again!), you can click here to access the video recording of last night's webinar and the other resources we talked about during the session—including ideas for how you can take action for old-growth forests!
