New look for SOUNZ
You can see above (and below) an element of our logo displayed in new colours: this is our soundbite. We have recently worked with Strategy Design & Advertising who created some new colour options for us to use. You will see the coloured wave across all our communications, including Resound films, as we’ll keep rolling them out...

Opening hours
We have recently extended our office hours and you can now call or visit us on Fridays too! Our new office hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 4.30pm.

Introducing...
Vivien Lee, our new Office Administrator. Vivien, who previously worked at RNZ Concert, started at SOUNZ in the beginning of this month and she will be your first point of contact for any enquiries or when visiting us. Welcome Vivien!

The winners will be announced at the National Jazz Festival in Tauranga over the Easter weekend.

Also presented for the first time at the National Jazz Festival, will be the SOUNZ Award for Best Performance of a New Zealand Composition at the 39th National Youth Jazz Competition for secondary school musicians.

A selection of recently released Resound films are now available on our website:

Stroma's Nine Echoes featuring nine works written by NZ composers, each responding to one of Lilburn's Nine Short Pieces for piano.
Remembering Lilburn, concert of works dedicated to Lilburn, was presented by Te Kōkī Trio at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music.

You can now view films of the Cries commissions, by Jack Body, Eve de Castro-Robinson, Chris Watson and Louise Webster plus a panel discussion with three of the composer, from last year's Adam Chamber Music Festival.

Approaching the Market
Screen Composers Guild of NZ, in association with SOUNZ, are organising a workshop to support screen composers. Internationally successful and award winning composer Andrew Hagen will deliver a practical workshop looking at the fundamentals of promoting and running a composing business.

Composer opportunities

Young Composer Prize
CANZ members born after 12 October 1986 are invited to submit a work for consideration for the 2016 ACL Young Composer Prize.
Closing date: 22 April

SOUNZ Community Commission
Bringing together NZ professional composers and community groups to create and perform a new work.
Closing date: 29 April

APRA AMCOS Art Music Fund
A new opportunity for the commissioning and presentation of art music compositions for Australian and NZ composers. In recognition of the limited opportunities for art music composers to have their works performed.
Closing date: 30 April

NZSO Todd Corporation Young Composers Award
An exciting opportunity for young NZ composers to have their work recorded by the NZSO over a residency.
Closing date: 2 May

SOUNZ Brass Composition Prize
SOUNZ, the Brass Band Association of New Zealand and CANZ present a new composition prize for works for solo brass instrument, with optional accompaniment.
Closing date: 2 May

And don't forget: NZCF Big Sing 2016 registrations close on 18 March.
