MERINDA MARCH RESIGNS FROM BOARD

It is with regret that the Equestrian Western Australia Board has accepted the resignation of Merinda March. Merinda joined the Board in 2016 and her skills in strategic planning and organisational development have been a valuable asset during a time of transition for EWA. POOL HORSES WANTED FOR APES GAMES

The Australasian Police and Emergency Services (APES) Games are a biennial event held throughout Australia and New Zealand and the 17th instalment will be hosted within the City of Mandurah from 28 October to 3 November 2018.

APES Games are hoping to attract Eastern States competitors for the Equestrian Competition section of the games. In order to facilitate this, the coordinators would like to obtain a list of people willing to provide pool horses. The equestrian coordinators will act as an initial contact point only and all other arrangements such as the cost of hire etc are to be made between the horse owner and the competitor.

The games will run at the Serpentine Horse and Pony Club Grounds on 1 & 2 November 2018. There will be Dressage up to Elementary Level, Show Horse, Western, Combined Training up to 95cm and Jumping up to 110cm.

If you have a horse you would like to offer and are happy for your details to be passed on to prospective competitors please email Melissa Cooper at Melissa.Cooper@dfes.wa.gov.au.

A final reminder that EA National Judges in Show Horse and Dressage are currently due to submit re-accreditation paperwork. This occurs every three years and for these officials, paperwork must be submitted by 31 March 2018, after which time names of non-complying officials will drop off the Officials Search until this work is complete. Equestrian Australia recommends completion of the following two free generic e-learning courses for all Officials.

• ASADA Level 1 Anti-Doping Online Course. As of 31 March, all EA Coaches must have completed this course to update and renew their coaching registration.

Lone is a Dual Olympian and Elite dressage coach and regularly works with High Performance riders to success. FREESTYLES COMPULSORY AT 2018 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

FRANGIBLE DEVICE & RISK MANAGEMENT

This seminar will cover cross country construction for improved risk management and safety, covering the types of obstacles that now require frangible devices, the different types of devices and their correct installation, including a review of cross-country guidelines and rules. Course presenters are Geoff Sinclair 3*/4* Technical Delegate and FEI Risk Management Officer and John Nicholson FEI 3*/4* XC Course Designer.
