EOI FOR EVENT WORKING PARTY

EWA is seeking a group of enthusiastic individuals to assist in the organising of an Equitana-style equestrian evening to be held at the State Equestrian Centre. No event experience is necessary however applicants must have good communication and time management skills, along with the ability to attend the occasional weekday meeting. REVIEW OF ALL EQUINE-RELATED TRAINING PACKAGE PRODUCTS

SkillsIQ is undertaking a thorough review of all Equine-related training products available within the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package. Draft 1 of the Equine Units of Competency and associated Assessment Requirements will be open for public consultation from 22 May to 16 June 2017. A series of industry feedback forums and webinars will be held during this time with the Perth Forum to take place on Monday 12 June. MORE

Congratulations to the 6 WA clubs who were selected for the 2017 Gow-Gates Club Development Grant Program.

LAST CHANCE TO APPLY FOR ICDF

International Competition and Development Fund (ICDF) applications close next Wednesday 31 May 2017. The ICDF supports projects and events that either clearly fall into the “international competition” category or can be demonstrated to further the “development” of the sport in general or a particular discipline. COACHES

COACH RENEWALS OPEN 6 JUNE

Coaching renewals will open on 6 June 2017. This year renewals will be processed entirely online by logging into your MyEA profile. As normal, EA will require coaches to submit copies of the following documents to ensure they still meet the re-accreditation requirements for holding a NCAS qualification:

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Working with Children Check
  • Evidence of attendance to Coach Update within last 3 years
  • Insurance Certificate of Currency (if selecting the Registration Only option)
  • Coaching Activities Form completed

EA are currently working with Gow-Gates to finalise the insurance premiums for the 2017/18 financial year. Once this has been confirmed the renewal fee will be released. MORE

The Mid-Year Performance Update Form is now available and due by 10 July 2017. Athletes who aren’t competing at GCEC Jumping (7-9 July) including interstate-based athletes are asked to submit these prior to 10 July.

Applications to join the La Noir Saddleworld EWA Jumping Squads for July to December 2017 are now open. Criteria and application forms are available here. Applications close 10 July.


DRESSAGE - NEWS

DWA MID-WEEK DRESSAGE ENTRIES NOW OPEN

29 & 30 June, Indoors at the State Equestrian Centre. Practise your tests on Thursday, receive feedback from the judge and then ride in competition on Friday. Relaxed, supportive atmosphere, affordable entries and your choice of tests!

  • Thursday 29 June: 8mins Training Tests (no feedback) OR book 16 or 24mins for Judge Protocol (with judge feedback and ride some movements again). ENTER
  • Friday 30 June: Competitor, Participant and Eventing tests on offer. Prep to Grand Prix plus Young Horse and Freestyles. Nominate your chosen tests (any EA or FEI tests). **Features a free rider workshop at lunch-time. ENTER

DAVID SHOOBRIDGE CLINIC

David Shoobridge is returning to WA on 9-11 June for another clinic. These clinics are always very popular, so get in quick so you don't miss out. The clinic will once again be held at Frances Woods' property under her indoor arena in Forrestdale. Each lesson will cost $190 inclusive of GST and ground fee. EVENTING - NEWS

VALLEY EQUINE VETERINARY CENTRE

The WA Eventing Committee would like to thank Warwick Vale and the team at Valley Equine Veterinary Centre for their continued support of our state's eventing community.

Valley Equine Veterinary Centre provides $2500 each year to Eventing WA, plus veterinary attendance at one WA FEI CIC/CCI event in an FEI Veterinary Delegate Capacity, and two annual veterinary lectures to WA Eventing Squad Members.

They also sponsor the FEI Young Eventing Rider of the Year Award, which aims to foster the young eventing rider into FEI competitions. The award includes a prize for the most outstanding and successful horse/rider combination of the year and allows for some financial assistance for further training and education for that combination during the following year.

WA RIDER GETS A START AT 2017 OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2017 Oceania Championships junior team has changed, with 17-year WA rider Tayah Andrew (Silver Force) to replace Hannah Lewindon after her horse sustained a minor injury that has rendered him unable to compete. MORE

SRSJC HORSELAND YOUNG SHOWJUMPING HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP 24 & 25 JUNE

Enter your 4, 5, 6, and 7-year-old horses (age before 1 August 2017) in this year's SRSJC's annual Horseland Young Showjumping Horse Championship*

Saturday 24 June: Young Horse Age classes / 80cm and 1.05m warm up classes for horses also competing in any Sunday classes.

Sunday 25 June: 1.05 & 1.15m height classes / 1.35m EWA Jumping HOTY / 1.25m Silver Series Qualifiers / The Final Four - Young Showjumping Horse Champion decider.

JOURNEY TO THE YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES

The Olympic journey for Australia’s young showjumping riders will begin on 10 & 11 June at Camden’s Bicentennial Park in NSW. The current crop of young jumping riders will hope to gain their certificate of capability so that they can be considered for selection for the third Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in September 2018.

There are four events in Australia where athletes can compete to gain their certificate of capability, including the WA State Championships on the 3-5 November at Yalambi Farm. MORE
