Yoga by donation was a great success last week and is back at 8am in the Old Market Building, byo mat!

Our nursery team is selling organic baby seedlings and microgreens again and the GRO Project team is selling White Oyster mushroom soup! 

And as always the cafe is open from 7am to midday (kitchen closes 11.45am).

Great day on Wednesday with a Taste Budds Cooking Studio Team Building Day in our warehouse space! Chef Sophie Budd (on the left) and her team helped a group of people make hand made pasta, risotto, gnocchi, pizza, tiramisu and more! With freshly picked herbs from the farm!

As part of Courage to Resist week (an international week of action for Bradley Manning) the Western Australian Wikileaks Citizen Alliance are holding a movie night at Perth City Farm on Thursday 6 June from 6.30pm.

They will be screening "The Cure" an Australian documentary - a film which intimately explores the influence of faith on emerging sexuality. In 2012, "The Cure" was shown across Australia as part of LGBT festivals.

Please bring a gold donation for supporting venue costs on the night.

Also, if you can, bring a plate of food to share. And warm clothes!

We currently have a number of volunteer positions available, especially in the garden with Patricia on Tuesday and Saturday morning.

The Perth City Farm Nursery needs 4 dedicated volunteers to help keep up with the tasks in the Abilities Nursery where we propagate plants for our garden and for sale.  Two people are needed each Monday and Tuesday from 9am-2pm. Anyone that can do both days are most welcome to. Volunteers will be trained by the nursery manager, however, will need to be able to work without supervision once the training is complete. Volunteers that are willing to learn and show an interest in the nursery will be chosen.  We ask that volunteers who can commit each week only apply.

Monday job description:

Arrive at 9 am
Tidy the nursery and wash/put away pots from the weekend planting
Complete any seed sowing and potting on as per managers instructions
Check nursery plants for weeds and pests/diseases, record any pest/diseases found. Attempt to identify through research.
Fertilise plants in the nursery as per managers instructions.
Clean up activity, record what has been done.
Finish up around 2pm

Quick tidy up in the nursery

We're looking for volunteers for the GRO Project. Much of the construction and R&D is now behind us, so it's time to grow in numbers and mushrooms. You'll learn & make friends as you provide hands on support to our existing GRO team, and our new worm farms. Our requirement is for volunteers on Monday through to Thursday on a regular basis, but the roster is flexible. Places are limited, and we want motivated members.

Perth City Farm is also home to the Sambanistas, Perth's longest-running samba percussion group. Rehearsals are held Tuesdays from 7.00-9.00pm, and Saturdays from 2.30-4.30pm.
Sambanistas always welcomes newcomers - no previous musical experience is necessary, just a willingness to join in, learn about samba and have some serious fun! Tuition and instruments provided.

This is a weekly class, suitable for anyone with interest. All ages & stages. The yoga asana is breath focussed. Students are encouraged to practice with 'ahimsa' (non – violence) & 'satya' (honesty).The class offers the opportunity of awareness of the supportive nature of the earth & the sky, the interconnectedness of body, mind & spirit, opens the chakra systems, rejuventates & renews the body at a cellular level.

A 10 – 15 min. guided meditation is offered in savasanah for maximum healing & clearing any blockages as well as presenting the opportunity to share love & light with the greater global community.
