ALL THAT JAZZ
International Jazz Day was celebrated on 30 April. An initiative of UNESCO, the day highlights jazz and its role in uniting people around the world.

Wellington Jazz Festival has recently published their programme for this year's event, taking place 3.-7.6. Look here to spot the NZ composers and musicians involved.

FEATURED EVENT
APO: Letters in Wartime, at Auckland War Memorial Museum on 25.5., features new works by Callum Blackmore, Jonathan Mandeno, Rachael Morgan, M Louise Webster and Kenneth Young.

Four new works by emerging composers, each the culmination of 18 months of workshops with the APO’s Composer-in-Residence Kenneth Young, were inspired by letters from the Museum’s collection written by NZ soldiers at the front during WWI.

On 7.5. the composers were at the Parnell Library discussing the process of bringing the letters to life in their works. On 23.5. Kenneth Young will talk about the mentoring process and the concert at the Auckland War Memorial Museum along with a performance by the Kentoris choir.
