EV 2020 Summer Show - Supreme Exhibit Rajahmar Star from Bacchus Marsh PC ridden by Jamie Harding
2020 is off and running with the equestrian calendar in full swing. January has already seen major events such as the EV Summer Show 2020 and the Victorian Youth Dressage Championships now completed with Barastoc HOTY and EV Masters Games around the corner. Entries for Barastoc Horse of the Year have closed, but you still have until 5 FEBRUARY to enter the Masters Games, so be sure to get your entries
in. In March, P.S.I. Dressage and Jumping with the Stars (DJWTS) will again take the stage at Werribee. One of Australia's biggest multi-discipline events, and this year, for the first time, featuring a dual world cup qualifier in Dressage and Jumping. Entries are open now and will close on 12 FEBRUARY. Conducted over three days, DJWTS is a must for any equestrian enthusiast. With an extensive trade
village open each day and a range of hospitality options, a trip to it is well worth the visit! Tickets are on sale NOW. The Jumping Victoria State Titles (26-29 March) and Leader Equine Victorian Interschool State Championships (2-6 April) complete a trifecta of events at Werribee. With expanded classes and rings the rescheduled JV State Titles event is already creating a buzz with many interstate riders
highlighting their intention to remain at Werribee for both DJWTS and JV State Titles. Likewise, many interschool riders are hoping to secure their berth in representing Victoria at the National Interschool Championships in Toowoomba later this year – hopefully to bring home a third consecutive National Championship! Until next month, safe riding.

The theatrical event of 2020 is still open at the magnificently refurbished Regent Theatre Melbourne – but not for long with the production heading to Sydney from 15 February and Perth from 24 March. Critically acclaimed, War Horse is a story of courage, loyalty and friendship between a young man and his horse. It is a very special relationship and every equestrian will know EXACTLY how that feels. While there is still time, don't miss out on this very special theatre event. Hailed a "spectacular return" by the Herald Sun watch the video to see the star studded opening night. Seen by more than 8 million people worldwide and has won
more than 25 international awards. "It's grand and dashing and desolating – a ground-breaking achievement of theatrical craft that stands ready to conquer a fresh audience" The Age - "Epic, Astonishing, Unstoppable" Time Out
- "Makes you rejoice to be alive" The Times
- "An Entertainment Phenomenon" The Daily Telegraph

2CONSTRUCT 2020 VICTORIAN YOUTH DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2Construct 2020 Victorian Youth Dressage Championships were held at Boneo Park on the 16-19 January. Over the 4 days, we saw fierce but friendly competition as our young dressage riders from around the state took to the arenas at Boneo Park. Add a delicious barbeque, disco, dog races, a fabulous trade village and you have all the ingredients for a successful
event. With weather ranging from howling winds to sunny afternoons, 140 riders rode in excess of 500 tests from Participation classes to FEI. Events such as this would not go ahead without the support of our fantastic community, including parents and competitors who volunteered during the event, our enthusiastic judges and the hard-working event committee led by Jan Smith, Kaitlyn McGill, Aengus Wright, Susan Ryan and Donna Desmet. Thank-you to 2Construct, this year's naming rights sponsor, our generous class/championship/product sponsors, event and media support, who made it all possible to deliver the 2020 championships. UNDERSTANDING THE NEW CHANGES TO THE EVENTING WARNING SYSTEMThe yellow card and recorded warning system has been in use for several years. It is used to warn competitors when their riding is putting them and their horse at greater risk than is inherently necessary, and for other actions that may put themselves or their horses at risk, (eg not seeing medical after a fall). What you may not know is that there have been some significant changes
to this system for 2020.
IMPROVEMENTS ON THE WAY FOR THE EVENTING VICTORIA WEB PAGESWatch out for some changes to the Eventing Victoria pages on the EV website, with updates and improvements being made right now to make it easier to find the important information you need whether you are a rider, an organising committee or an official. Keep your eye on: https://www.vic.equestrian.org.au/eventing over the next couple of weeks!

SUMMER SHOW 2020Thank you to those competitors, judges and officials who contributed to making the Summer Show an outstanding success. It was very satisfying to see so many breeds support this show – 25 breed and competition rings operated throughout the 2 days with excellent competition and good numbers in all rings. It was so pleasing to see this show returning to the prestigious event it used to be. Many thanks also to Werribee Park for presenting the arenas in such good condition and for the amount of input that the area has received in recent weeks. Now on to Barastoc!
