Martha's Message

Dear Parents,

February has been a super busy month, but one that is filled with anticipation, renewal, and teamwork. As many of you know, January and February are our busiest times for enrollment. The entire faculty and staff joined forces to do our best as we toured prospective families and hosted admissions coffees. It is with great excitement that I tell you we are bursting at the seams in kindergarten (up from 11 to 26 children) and have strong re-enrollment on the McCormick campus in grades first through sixth. Each year we maintain around 85% re-enrollment, and this year is no different.

We are working diligently on preparing for the Florida Council of Independent School re-accreditation visit next year. Our work focuses on evaluating our strengths and weaknesses in the areas of curriculum, governance, safety and security, finance, and school climate. Faculty and staff have spent a great deal of time delving into those areas to be sure we are embracing our mission and fulfilling our requirements to provide the best environment possible for your children.

It is important to me that you know our primary purpose is to serve your children by giving the best possible education academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. I have an open-door policy and would love to visit with you about your experience here at BES. Next Wednesday, on February 22nd, there is another "Coffee and Conversation with Martha" after Birthday Book Chapel. This has proven to be a great forum to discuss topics related to the classroom and broader school matters. We would love to have you join us!

Finally, I am looking forward to spending time with everyone at our annual Parent Social, "Havana Nights," at Atlantic Beach Country Club on Feb. 24th. Niki Philips, Stacy Nash, and their committee of volunteers have worked tirelessly to make this a wonderful event! Thank you in advance for your support of the school.

Fondly,

Martha Milton
