Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Updates to Victorian Public Health Directions

The Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has issued information for disability providers under the last step of the roadmap for easing restrictions in Victoria.

Key points

  • Victoria has issued guidance to centre based disability services.
  • Disability support workers are not exempt from the ongoing restrictions of workers crossing the border of South Australia and Victoria.

Information and fact sheets for disability service providers

The Victorian Government website has updated information on the updated restrictions that now apply as part of the last step on the roadmap for reopening.

Among these changes, there are no longer any restrictions on the purpose, number, or time limits for visitors to care facilities (including disability residential services).

Centre-based disability service providers

DHHS has issued a fact sheet for centre-based disability service providers (Word 115 KB). This fact sheet explains the changes to centre-based disability services under the last step on the roadmap to reopening, including the COVIDSafe principles that continue to apply.
It is also available on DHHS’s Disability services sector – COVID-19 webpage.

Worker permit system: South Australia–Victoria

Due to the recently-announced restrictions between Victoria and South Australia, a permit is required for movement across the Victorian and South Australian border.

There will are no exemptions for South Australians to enter Victoria due to being a disability worker.

Disability service providers will need to check information regularly to ensure they have the most up to date information on border restrictions.

More information about border permits is available on the Victorian Government website.
