Each page focuses on a particular active shooter-related topic and has been designed specifically for law enforcement officers, other first responders, corporations, educators, and the general public. Virtual Webinar The Future of Teleservices in Drug Courts—Part 1: Where Are We Now? Recent Developments and Emerging Opportunities Hosted by the Policy Research Associates, this virtual workshop discusses treatment courts across the country and how they have had to adapt to COVID-19 guidance and restrictions, building quickly on lessons learned from previous implementation efforts. Although the majority of this workforce continues to operate remotely today, treatment court practitioners are now beginning to contemplate strategic directions for a post-pandemic service model. Part I of this three-part Virtual Learning Community presents a retrospective view of the transition to teleservices from the perspective of treatment court practitioners; a review of the mounting evidence base for teleservices in treatment court settings; commentary on the potential for enhancing best-practice standards through the use of teleservices; and results of a nationwide survey of treatment courts regarding practice modifications, implementation barriers, effective innovations, and intent to continue the use of teleservices. When: Wednesday, June 16, 2021 Webinar Patrol Intelligence Officers—Intelligence-Led Policing in Action Hosted by the Justice Clearinghouse and funded by the International Association of Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA), this webinar provides an overview of the Phoenix Police Department’s Intelligence Officer Program. This innovative, patrol-driven initiative was piloted in 2014 as part of a collaboration with Arizona State University. It aims to create an interactive web of intelligence to help the department become more intelligence-led by integrating and promoting intelligence gathering and information sharing into the patrol function. This webinar will discuss the Intelligence Officer Program’s history, key components, and impacts, the benefits of researcher-practitioner partnerships, and recommendations for establishing an intelligence officer program. When: Thursday, June 17, 2021 New COPS PublicationLaw Enforcement Solutions by the Field, for the Field Published by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), this publication discusses the Collaborative Reform Initiative Technical Assistance Center (CRI-TAC), which provides critical and tailored technical assistance resources to state, local, territorial, tribal, and campus law enforcement agencies on a wide variety of topics. This report highlights the work of CRI-TAC since the release of the second annual report in May 2020. In this report, the reader will find a breakdown of program performance metrics as well as eight case studies highlighting diverse topics and agency size, type, and geography. The report provides testimonials on the impact of the technical assistance and a description of the intake process. The report also highlights a special initiative in 2020 focused on COVID-19. It concludes with an overview of activities taking place in 2021, including work with tribal law enforcement and the development of community engagement resources and trainings on the topics of de-escalation, hate crimes, and peer intervention. Webinar Managing Sex Offender Caseloads—A Victim-Centered Approach Hosted by the National Criminal Justice Training Center, this webinar reviews the basics of sex offender management and evidence-based techniques used to make considerations related to the application of supervision and treatment. Participants will identify the role of the supervising officer; the value of engaging victims/survivors and offenders’ families; effectively responding to violations; and supporting strength-based practices to promote behavior change. The presenters will discuss how static and dynamic risk factors can help make informed decisions and identify contributing risk factors linked to sexual offending. Participants will explore the relationship between typologies and the application of risk and need responsivity. Finally, the webinar will examine a victim/survivor-centered approach to supervision and treatment and help participants understand how to balance this approach to support community safety.
