New government certificate for the export of non-viable seafood to China: Guide to raising a request for permit

Market Access Alert (MAA) 2020-22 provides information to export registered seafood establishments and exporters on:

  • The amended government certificate (health certificate) for the export of non-viable aquatic products to China, to be used from 1 January 2021, and;
  • Guidance on the information required by exporters and registered seafood establishments to raise a request for permit (RFP) on the amended health certificate supporting template.

Some export establishments have been or are considering providing a covid attestation on company letterhead.  Whilst it is not a government attestation, it is at least a declaration from the company that may assist with access.

 

China - World Trade Organisation - Sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) notification

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment wishes to bring to the attention of all seafood exporters a SPS notification from China on the Administrative measures on the inspection, quarantine, supervision and administration of imported and exported foods (G/SPS/N/CHN/1191).

The department is seeking industry to review the attached regulation and advise the department on how the industry will be impacted. The department will submit comments and in the interest of meeting the deadline, they would appreciate that any comments you provide, reference the article number and indicate the specific impact of the measure.

The department apologises for the short notice but responses to the WTO are due by 11 January 2021.

Market Access Advice (2020-05) notifies exporters of new Indonesian import halal requirements that will impact exports of Australian agricultural produce to Indonesia.

Ukraine: Fish: Temporary suspension of health certification for the export of fish and fishery products to Ukraine

Market Access Advice (2020-21) provides information concerning the temporary suspension of health certificate FXU01 - ‘Veterinary (Sanitary) Certificate covering fish, fishery products exported to Ukraine’ used for the export of seafood to Ukraine.
