Adelaide Economic Development Agency

The Adelaide Economic Development Agency is actively working on a new Reignite Adelaide initiative with City of Adelaide to support businesses in the City following the latest COVID-19 lockdown. This new city support package helps retail, events, hospitality and construction sectors, along with offering cheaper and more flexible parking. Some of the many highlights in this package include:

  • A one-month parking initiative of free evening (6pm-midnight) and free weekend (Sat-Sun) parking within all Council owned off-street UParks.
  • Supporting the hospitality industry to expand into the public realm to optimise outdoor capacity limits.
  • Initiatives to reduce costs and streamline processes for the construction industry including a 50 per cent discount for any permit applications for works up to 1 October 2021.
  • A further investment of $100,000 in the City Business Support Package in partnership with Business SA to support job creation, business recovery and growth.

In this edition, we also unpack why Adelaide is in the world's top three most liveable cities, plus see the latest grants for Christmas activations and listen to some well-known Adelaideans on why they love Adelaide.

$1,000 business grant

A further grant of $1,000 offered by the State Government is available for eligible businesses (both employing and non-employing) with a commercial premise in the Adelaide CBD.

This is in addition to $3,000 for employing businesses and $1,000 for non-employing businesses that are eligible and have experienced a decline in turnover of 30 per cent or more as a result of the COVID-19 health trading restrictions introduced from 28 July 2021. Applications will close on Sunday 17 October 2021.
