Engaging the community is crucial to creating a responsive update to Niagara’s Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. Niagara residents and members of the public are encouraged to share their input through an online survey starting March 5, 2025. Under the Police Services Act, municipalities are required to develop and adopt and a community safety and well-being plan and to update that plan every five years. The plan’s development and updating is done in partnership with many community sectors, recognizing that safety and well-being cannot be addressed in isolation by any one organization or sector. Niagara’s Community Safety and Well-Being Plan provides a way for partners to work together to develop local strategies that can begin to address root causes of complex social issues, and ensures that people in need of help receive the right response, at the right time, and by the right service provider. The survey will provide the public the opportunity to give input into their sense of safety, belonging, education, employment, and perceptions on community safety and sharing the experiences and what matters to them. Community members’ input into this survey will help to shape life in Niagara, determine community priorities, and indicate where change is needed. The last date to complete the survey is Friday, March 21. Complete the Community Safety and Well Being Survey.
