PREVENTION OF DOMESTIC AND FAMILY VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR

BACKGROUND
The following resolution was passed at the 2015 LCA General Convention of Synod:
That the Convention of Synod reaffirms its condemnation of all forms of violence in the family and authorises GCC to commit resources for a church-wide campaign to address the prevalence of Family Violence amongst us, which may include sharing of resources, education initiatives and the provision of pastoral care to the survivors of violence, as well as the perpetrators of abuse.

A small working group has been established by the Executive Officer of the Church. It has developed a campaign strategy, which will be implemented between October 2016 and October 2018.
The campaign is based on the principles set out in the LCA Standards of Ethical Behaviour which promote compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience within relationships.  It supports the LCA Statement on Marriage.

It is proposed that the campaign will involve training, research, identifying and developing resources, recommending and implementing specific actions.
The campaign will involve the congregations/parishes, institutions/organisations, departments and ministries of the LCA.

CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR
This position will coordinate the implementation of the Domestic and Family Violence campaign strategy, working closely with the Working Group and accountable to the Executive Officer of the Church. The full Position Description is available at www.lca.org.au “employment opportunities”

The coordinator must demonstrate respect in all activities and relationships, as per the LCA Standards of Ethical Behaviour, with special reference to dealing with those who have experienced domestic and family violence.
