The Bikeability Trust and the Department for Transport recognise the importance of the financial viability of our training providers in order to continue delivery of the Bikeability programme in 2021/22. We recognise that this has been an incredibly difficult period for you, trying to balance keeping as many children trained as possible with supporting Bikeability instructors. We also recognise that whilst instructors were able to access CJSS/SEISS or the Bikeability Grant, these claims did not mean covering your core training provider costs to be met by the small margin of profit normally retained through the grant process.
Therefore, we are pleased to announce that the Bikeability Trust has secured approval for a Bikeability Restart Grant. This grant has been discussed and agreed by central government by Government Ministers.
The Bikeability Restart Grant will offer independent training providers who have made a financial loss in 2020/21:
-
Up to £20,000 to contribute to premises costs for the period of March - June 2020 and January - March 2021, when national lockdown impacted training providers
-
Up to £10,000 to contribute to core staff administration costs who were not eligible for furlough schemes, as they were required to provide support for instructors and deal with school bookings
The grant has been designed to support independent training providers, who have previously been unable to secure financial support throughout 2020/21, through Government forms of support or other schemes. These are outlined in our Coronavirus FAQs. The threshold for evidence has been set by central government, as all claims may be audited by the fraud office.
In order to claim, you must

-
Submit key evidence directly to grants@bikeability.org.uk
-
Save a copy of your form submission and evidence, for your records
Claims must be submitted by Friday 30 April. All claims will be assessed after this date and the Bikeability Trust will communicate a decision based on your application by Monday 24 May. Payments will be made as part of the June payrun to your chosen lead grant recipient, who are already part of the Bikeability Trust payroll, who will in turn pay this grant to you. This grant will not be recorded on Link, so it must be paid via a grant recipient as the Trust cannot pay training providers directly.
