OFFICIALS NEWSLETTER

We welcome you to the first edition of our new Officials' newsletter, IN THE FIELD. Here you can read about news & updates on all our officials and volunteers giving their time around Australia and across the globe!

WELCOME !

2016/17 was a busy year with many courses held including a series of long overdue Medication Control courses.  The first courses were run in Qld and NSW by our new National Medication Control Officer, Dr Cate Plummer.

We also supported the Safety Aspects of Eventing for Course Designing which was organised by our National Safety Officer, Roger Kane. This course bought together a group of our top eventing Course Designers in Melbourne in late February to discuss safety equipment and new initiatives.  Geoff Sinclair, the Australian representative on behalf of the EA Eventing Committee added the latest detail from the FEI Risk Management seminar held at Tattersalls, Ireland just a few weeks prior. With Representatives from NSW, Qld, SA, TAS and VIC attending, this group has been charged to share their learnings with the Eventing Course Designers and Technical Delegates in their home states.

EA OFFICIALS BUDGET 2017/18

The EA Board has approved the Officials budget for the 2017/2018 Financial Year.

As with any budgeting process, we have had to prioritise our focus for the coming year. Our decision making is supported by the considerable analysis we have undertaken to confirm the number of officials in various roles at each level in each discipline.

To this end, we will focus on FEI courses for Endurance Vets, Carriage Driving Stewards, Vaulting Judges and Stewards, Dressage Stewards, Jumping Judges and Course Designers, and continue the role out of the National Medication Control Course.

National courses will be funded and organised through State branches and their discipline committees in line with State specific requirements and logistics. EA will continue to offer support to the State branches with course content and other administrative assistance as required.

EA ASSISTANCE FUND 16/17

To assist with expenses incurred by current EA Members holding a qualification of EA L3 through to FEI, EA provided financial support to assist Officials requiring international travel to attend FEI promotion or refresher courses.
