We must give huge thanks to you, our audiences, whose smiling faces made this edition all worthwhile. To all the amazing artists for bringing their magic to Castlemaine, many of whom were performing for the first time in more than 12 months. To the CSF team, board, and brilliant volunteers, thank you to you all, you are amazing. Our thoughts and feels are with the organisers of all the gorgeous festivals and events knocked about by this current lockdown here in Victoria. We know you will make it through this. Please keep safe and warm as you head into the winter months. Please keep a lookout for more and more fun things happening at our lovely Goods Shed. And if you are thinking of planning your own event, we would love to host you in the space, so get in touch! More details about that below. Thanks for reading! Spacious and raw featuring Victorian architecture details and stunning acoustics, the Goods Shed offers 350 square meters of open plan space along with rehearsal and dressing rooms, meeting rooms, breakout rooms and co-working spaces. Saved by community passion from major commercial development almost a decade ago, the Castlemaine Goods Shed is a Victorian-era building located within the Castlemaine Railway precinct. Transformed into Goods Shed Arts, the building is now Castlemaine State Festival's new Creative Hub, a living artistic and cultural centre and the permanent home of the Castlemaine State Festival team. It's the perfect location for developing and presenting creative projects and hosting events, both large and small, with public transport access just minutes away. Covid Relief Residences update
In July we welcome musician, collage artist and counsellor Angela Mitten. Angela will spend a week at Goods Shed Arts to work on a multi-disciplinary project that examines body shame and positivity through song, spoken word, photography and collage. In August we will host two residencies, awarded to emerging artist and producer Tegan Nash and theatre-maker Janice Muller. Tegan will undertake a second stage creative development of her new work ‘This Feast of Ours’, a participatory performance installation that responds to the increasing disconnect with traditions of making across the globe. Janice will utilise her week at Goods Shed Arts to work on a new contemporary performance piece she is developing in collaboration with local band Stop that Mammoth. Keep an eye out for some exciting opportunities that are soon to be announced.
