JUNIOR MENTORING PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP

Junior athletes (U/21 as at 31 December 2018) are invited to apply for the 2019 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship & Mentoring Program. The Scholarship will provide encouragement and funding for 14 months to help five young athletes achieve at the highest level of their sport. Applications close Monday 9 July. MORE

REMI STUD SCHOLARSHIP

The Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship is an annual Scholarship awarded to a deserving Young Rider who has talent and dedication in either Dressage, Showing or Eventing. The winner will receive a purpose-bred Remi Stud Hanoverian weanling by Lauries As (imp) and an extensive support package worth a total of $30,000. Applications close 30 June. MORE

Thunderstorm and lightning activity is a risk that can cause severe injury or death to people and animals participating in equestrian events. Due to the unpredictability of electrical storms, EWA has developed some guidelines for Clubs and Officials to implement to minimise these risks. MORE

This forum/course is for people interested in becoming an EA Official and current EA Officials needing to attend a Refresher Course for reaccreditation. Judges, riders and coaches are also welcome to attend to observe. The day will consist of presentations by EA National Medication Control Officer Dr Cate Plummer, FEI Steward General Chris Wallis and EA Officials Pathway Manager Di Saunders.

GRASSROOTS DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Dressage WA is proud to announce the 2018 Grass Roots Dressage Championships to be held on 24 November at the State Equestrian Centre!

This is a closed restricted competition offering EA tests from Prep to Elementary. To be eligible to compete, riders must hold a current 2018 EWA Participant (Junior/Senior) or Adult Rider membership. Pony, participant and adult rider classes offered. PE tests upon request. To be eligible, horses/ponies must NOT hold a current EWA Dressage competition license.

Entries to open 1 October via Nominate.

RECENT CHANGES TO DRESSAGE EQUIPMENT RULES

The EA Dressage Equipment Committee has recently approved the following changes, effective immediately:

  • A discrete zip up the exposed side (outside) of the rider’s boot/chap/gaiter is now permitted.
  • The three-point Spider Noseband is not permitted in dressage competitions. If worn into the competition arena it will entail elimination by the Dressage Judge.

SWAN RIVER SHOWJUMPING CLUB 23 & 24 JUNE

Indoors at Brookleigh!
General entries open Friday, 8 June at 12-noon.
Early entries for members are open now.

Fend off the weather and join us indoors at Brookleigh’s fully re-surfaced arena for Official Classes on Sunday 24 June and our 8th annual Horseland Young Showjumping Horse Championships on Saturday 23 June. This year’s superstar young horse judging panel includes World Cup rider and young horse specialist Colleen Brook (NSW) and WA experts Darren Taylor and Roger Kammann.

  • Saturday: 4, 5, 6 & 7-Year Old Age Classes plus 90cm and 1.05m rounds open to riders in the young horse or Sunday's open classes. 80cm or 1.10m warm up classes may be added if enough riders express interest to us by Tuesday 11 June. Please email requests to swanrivershowjumpingclub@hotmail.com .
  • Sunday: Open Height classes that qualify horses for SRSJC’s Championship classes and accrue points toward SRSJC Junior, Young and Senior Rider Hi Points Leaderboards. Plus the not-to-be-missed The Final Four Young Showjumping Horse Championship Master Class/decider.

We’re grateful to La Noir for discounting training rates just for SRSJC riders to pre-train indoors on 12, 13 & 14 June over a full jumping course designed by Les Bunning. Call Brookleigh Reception to book on 9296 0018. Leave a message if the office is unattended.

EWA Show Horse is excited to present the 2018 Show Horse Seminar & Riders Forum. If you are interested in learning more about the sport and what a judge looks for in a successful Show Horse/Hunter, then this is the seminar for you! The Seminar will feature guest speaker Terry Van Heythuysen (VIC) who has been involved with showing horses for many years and has numerous state and national title wins to his credit.

The EWA Show Horse Committee will also be conducting their annual Forum following the Seminar. Riders, judges and event organisers encouraged to attend to discuss the sport.
