2019 MEMBERSHIP FEE INCREASES

Equestrian Australia (EA) have finalised the 2018/19 EA Insurance program details with their broker, Gow Gates, and advised all state branches that there has been a significant increase in the cost of insurance. As a result, EWA regrets to advise that 2019 EWA membership fees will be increasing as a result. MORE

EMPLOYMENT OF CHILDREN LAWS IN WA

The Children and Community Services Act 2004 prohibits children under 15 working in horse riding schools and equestrian centres. These child employment laws apply to all Western Australian employers, so if you run or manage a business that is a horse riding or equestrian centre please ensure that you refer to the following article to see if you are compliant. Pony Dressage Measuring Update: a pony is to comply with the National Measuring Rules within 12 months of competing in Official Events – and MUST be measured before entering a separated Pony Official competition, including State Championship.

WA NATIONALS TEAM INVITATIONS

If you were a Winner or 1st Runner-Up place-getter in an eligible Nationals qualifying class at the EWA Horse of the Year Show, please notify the WA Team Manager at avagrace@westnet.com.au of your intent to compete at the Nationals by 1 October. If confirmation is not received by this time, an invitation will be extended to the 2nd Runner-Up.

TRIPLE CROWN AWARD WINNERS

This year the EWA Show Horse Committee is offering a Triple Crown Cash Award to any horse/pony that was awarded a Champion at all 3 EWA-run shows (Autumn Pageant, Winter Gala and Horse of the Year) in open show horse and show hunter classes. A $1000 cash prize was on offer to be split evenly between any winners.

There were 3 ponies that were awarded champion at each of the EWA run shows during 2018. Congratulations to the connections of the following ponies:

• Gem Park Debonare – Medium Hunter Pony
• Kazwood Park Love Always – Large Show Pony
• Argyl Star Quality – Medium Show Pony
