AUSSIE RIDER MAKES PRESENCE FELT IN USA
Australian showjumper Rowan Willis reflects on what is probably the biggest win of his career in the Longines Grand Prix at the CSIO 5 * Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup Ocala, Florida last February.
Riding his own chestnut mare, Blue Movie, he went double clear and his final round time of 47.46 sec was enough to win the $US265,000 event.
AUSTRALIAN EVENTING LEGEND ANNOUNCED AS WEG CHEF D'EQUIPE
Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medallist & Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medallist Stuart Tinney (OAM) will take up the role of Chef d’Equipe with the Australian Equestrian Eventing Team ahead of the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018, in the USA.
Another major change is the ramping up of the jumping phase coaches to provide Australia’s riders with the best opportunities wherever they are based around the world. Rod Brown will be based in Australia with the major addition of Brazilian jumping icon Nelson Pessoa. UK based Gareth Hughes will continue in his role as Dressage coach for the Australian Eventing Team.
OATLEY RETURNS TO RING
Australian dressage rider Kristy Oatley and her chestnut star Du Soleil made a great start to 2018 at the seventh leg of the FEI World Cup™ Dressage 2017/2018 Western European League in Neumunster, Germany, recording two scores over 70 %.
"I feel that our Winter break was successful. Duse was so much more focussed on using his positive energy in the test to his advantage." said Oatley.
BUENOS AIRES 2018 SUMMER YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES SELECTION CRITERIA
Equestrian Australia (EA) has released its nomination and selection criteria for the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games.
TRIFECTA FOR ALEXIS HELLYER
29-year-old Alexis Hellyer has made it a trifecta at Willinga Park CDI***, with a victory in the Grand Prix Freestyle to Music today after winning the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special on the NSW South Coast. Riding the chestnut stallion Bluefields Floreno, owned by JJ Fuchs, Alexis performed a mistake-free freestyle for a score of 75.53%.

INTERNATIONAL HORSE OWNERS WELCOME IN AUSTRALIA
Internationally owned horses will now be eligible to participate in Equestrian events in Australia.
Last month saw a great incentive partnered by Dressage Queensland, Dressage NSW and the QLD/NSW State Branches to bring FEI 5* Dressage and FEI 3* Para-Equestrian Judge Lilo Fore to Australia. She has trained and coached for over 40 years and is a sports horse breeder on her farm in America.
EIAF are pleased to announce their association with Matt Harnacke, International Model and #1 Equestrian Influencer worldwide. Matt has been named by Vogue Australia as ’the face to watch’; at just 21 years of age his modelling career has taken him all around the world with high end and commercial brands.
EIAF will be transporting Matt’s horse “Chase” a gorgeous 9 year old, chestnut, warmblood dressage horse who stands at over 17H, to Europe in the coming months. “I am super excited to be partnering with Equine International Airfreight” Harnacke says. “to be working with like-minded people whose care and attention to detail with horses really impressed me. WEG VAULTING CHEF D'EQUIPE EOI
Equestrian Australia (EA) is seeking applications for the position of Vaulting Chef d’Equipe. In this role you will be responsible for leading #TeamAUS Vaulters at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018 in the USA, this September. Australia currently has some exciting prospects in the discipline of Vaulting and this is a rare opportunity to work with a talented, passionate and dedicated group of athletes.
EA AWARDS HAVE CHANGED ⚠️
The Equestrian Australia Annual Sport Achievement Awards has undergone a format change in 2018.
We are implementing an online voting system that is aimed at better engaging our vastly located membership base and the wider Equestrian community, giving them a voice in the awards.
