 New campaign to attract care and support workers

A new campaign has been launched by the Australian Government to encourage people to consider care and support work.

NDIS National Workforce Campaign: A Life Changing Life

A Life Changing Life campaign aims to highlight the rewarding, varied and sustainable job opportunities in the care and support sector. It is designed to attract care and support workers with the skills, values and attributes, while also improving existing workers’ access to training and development opportunities.

The campaign website features a suite of tools and resources for prospective employees and employers. There is a dedicated page on the website for employers which provides information to help you leverage the campaign to attract workers.

The campaign is an initiative of the Department of Social Services’ NDIS National Workforce Plan, which seeks to grow and develop a workforce spanning disability support, aged care and veterans’ support.

NDIS Worker responsibilities and resources

The NDIS Commission has a range of resources available to assist people working in the NDIS to understand their obligations. The NDIS Commission website has a section dedicated to the needs of NDIS workers.

It includes the Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’ that takes workers through their responsibilities under the NDIS Code of Conduct.

We expect NDIS providers to support their workforce to understand their obligations and to apply quality practice in their interactions with NDIS participants.

NDIS Workforce Capability Framework

The NDIS Commission has been developing, in consultation with participants, providers and workers, an NDIS Workforce Capability Framework. You can find out more about the NDIS Workforce Capability Framework, ahead of its launch later this year.

During 2021-22, the NDIS Commission will work with the sector to develop tools and materials to assist providers in using the NDIS Workforce Capability Framework.
