Grants drive community participationA dedicated tenpin bowling program for Western Australians with a disability is one of 18 sports projects recently funded through the Targeted Participation Program grants. This is a joint initiative between Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Healthway. Find out more. MAN V FAT league expandsIn February a new MAN v FAT Cockburn soccer league will kick-off. MAN v FAT is a weight-loss program based around a 15-week, six-a-side soccer league. The program was created in the United Kingdom, and brought to WA in 2018 through a collaboration between UWA Sport, the UWA Psychology of Active, Healthy Living Group, and Healthway. Find out more. Surf Life Saving WA CompSurf Life Saving WA are holding a SunSmart photo competition in the lead up to the Championships in March. Upload a photo of yourself being SunSmart outdoors, showcasing as many of the Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide key messages, and describe why being SunSmart is important to you. Find out more. Festival without the fizzThe 2018 LiveLighter Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival is the first Healthway sponsored event in WA to go soft drink free. In partnership with Healthway, the WA School Canteen Association and event organisers worked together to create a healthy environment. Lapping up the fruit and vegHealthway is proud to support and work in partnership with Royal Lifesaving WA to support the Go for 2&5 Swim for Fruit program which aims to improve children's levels of physical activity, swimming skill development and overall consumption of fruit at pools in the Pilbara region . Find out more. Throwback to the 90'sHealthway has been unrelenting in its pursuit of smoke-free environments in WA for nearly three decades. Parry Field (Belmont) was one of the first sporting venues in Australia to restrict smoking back in 1993. Subiaco Oval adopted a smoke-free policy in all seating and indoor areas at the beginning of the 1995 football season, followed by the WACA oval in 1996.
