Celebrate World Water Day with Niagara Region

March 17, 2026

World Water Day is an internationally recognized day by the United Nations that is held annually on March 22. To celebrate World Water Day, Niagara Region is excited to offer free guided tours of the Niagara Falls Water Treatment Plant.

Niagara Region protects public health and the environment by providing award-winning drinking water for the communities it serves. Niagara Region operates six water treatment facilities that produce 155 million litres of safe and reliable drinking water each day.

During this tour, a water treatment operator will walk participants through the plant to explore the various phases of water treatment at the Niagara Falls Water Treatment Plant – where the water comes from to how it gets to the tap.
