Cr. Rod Henderson, Swan Valley Gidgegannup Ward Councillor, will present overall key issues for residents to consider. Mr. Barkley Day, BD Water Services, will speak on Equine water use in the Valley.

CONGRATULATIONS KAREN

EWA would like to congratulate Karen Wood on her successful completion of the Level 1 stewards course at Taupo, New Zealand, in May. Karen is the first accredited FEI Eventing Steward in WA in many years and her new qualifications will be an asset to the state's eventing community. Well done Karen!

The EWA Coaching Advisory Panel held a very successful and well-attended Coach Educator (CE) and Skills Specific Training Assessor (SSTA) Updating Clinic at the State Equestrian Centre in June. MORE

ROD BROWN COMING TO WA

EWA is pleased to announce that international high performance coach and former Olympian, Rod Brown, will be visiting WA from 31 July - 2 August to provide lessons to La Noir Equestrian Jumping and Eventing Squad members. Limited lessons may be available for non-squad riders pending availability. To submit an expression of interest for a lesson with Rod email sharon.welsh@equestrianwa.org.au .
 

Rod will be hosting a public Masterclass at the SEC on the evening of Tuesday 31 July. Everyone is invited to come and listen to Rod's wonderful knowledge of the sport with live demonstrations. More details coming soon.

Lone is a Dual Olympian and elite dressage coach and regularly works with high performance riders to success. This is a fantastic opportunity to prepare for the State Dressage Championships four days later!

STATE DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS MERCHANDISE

2018 WA State Dressage Championships merchandise is now available to order! We have men's and women's classy navy polos featuring the Dressage WA logo on the front and the very fancy State Dressage Championships logo on the back in metallic silver.

These are $50 each (all sizes available) and you must pre-order before 3 August to allow time for production. The shirts will be available for pick up from the Friday, or the week before the event by prior arrangement. We also have travel mugs for only $10 - what a bargain!

D'ARCY SLATER FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Applications for the 2018 winter round of the D'Arcy Slater Foundation Scholarship are now open. Facilitated by the WA Institute of Sport, the Foundation offers up to seven $5,000 scholarships per year to young athletes requiring financial assistance to reach their sporting goals. MORE

FEI WORLD CUP RULE CHANGES & REMINDER

Please note that there have been a number of significant changes to the Australian World Cup Rules that came into effect on 1 July 2018. Competitors wanting to compete for the 2018/2019 World Cup season are reminded to familiarise themselves with the changes before the first event. MORE

Competitors are also reminded that to compete in World Cup events 1) horses and riders need current FEI registrations and 2) horses need a valid FEI passport document. For more information on how to apply for or renew these documents please visit the EA website or contact EA on (02) 8762 7777. MORE

EA has confirmed that the 2018 Australasian Show Horse and Rider Championships will be held from 29 November - 1 December 2018 at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre in Victoria. The judge list is also now available on the EA website. MORE

EWA Show Horse is excited to present the 2018 Show Horse Seminar & Riders Forum. If you are interested in learning more about the sport and what a judge looks for in a successful Show Horse/Hunter, then this is the seminar for you! The Seminar will feature guest speaker Terry Van Heythuysen (VIC) who has been involved with showing horses for many years and has numerous state and national title wins to his credit.

The EWA Show Horse Committee will also be conducting their annual Forum following the Seminar. Riders, judges and event organisers encouraged to attend to discuss the sport.
