Let's Cruise!

Once again this year at the Installation Dinner we'll be awarding the coveted Iris Ames Cruising trophy! This trophy is earned over a year's period by participating in our monthly cruise outs. Various levels of points are awarded for leading, participating, or otherwise enjoying a weekend on the water with boats and friends. Well, come November we reset the leader board and the race for the award begins again. So, get those boats ready and shake the dust out of the bunks, as we have an entirely new and exciting cruise out year planned ahead for you! Our first cruise out to earn points towards the 2014 Iris Ames Cruising trophy is fast approaching: Thanksgiving weekend, Angel Island cruise out to Ayala Cove! Will you join us?

Tom and Barb Keegan will again be leading the cruise out to Ayala Cove this year. And while I know some of you will accuse me of saying this about all our cruise outs, this is truly one of my favorites! There is something very special about spending a weekend at Angel Island on a mooring ball, and at times the island is entirely peaceful and then moments later packed full of day trippers. The weather can be variable, but in recent years we've enjoyed truly remarkable sunny days. And then there are Barb's secret breakfast sausages!  Amazing! You can sign up at the club on the yellow sign up sheet on the cruising board, or Click Here to Register.

Shortly, Tom will send out more information about the cruise out. But in the meantime, if you are new to the club or new to cruising, please feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions about cruising in general, or specifically about Ayala Cove.

And finally... all boaters are welcome, sail or power! And, if you don't have a boat, let me know and we'll try and match you up with an empty berth!

Shannon Amerman - Cruise Out Captain

Tony Orazem

Ahoy Sequoia

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Tony Orazem this past Sunday.

This was completely unexpected and his family is obviously going through a very difficult period, indeed. Tony and Julia have been members for over ten years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Julia, their children and all of their extended family at this tragic time. As we get more details I can update you, but at this moment I just wanted to let the club know.
