When Your Heart Is Speechless

I must confess I hardly know what to write. It is my Wednesday routine to sit at this laptop and compose another entry for my Fourth Watch blog. But today's headlines are the visceral recitation of our nation's ugliest truth. Racism.

We sat in a Zoom circle a few days ago—and listened as our colleague and friend, Taurus Montgomery (African American pastor of our Harbor of Hope campus in Benton Harbor), described the shock of being yelled out of his car. A teen at the time, Taurus had been impatiently waiting for his sister to emerge from the house—when a white police officer in an unmarked car screeched to a halt and with a revolver pointed at Taurus and his brother, yelled: "Get out—with your hands up!"

Report: The (Virtual) Tent 2020

In no way was The Tent normal this year. After all, nothing has been! That is not to say, however, that it was not a win for the Kingdom of God. Although it was online only, God came through in a mighty way! With about 200 different video clips the whole thing came together against all odds. There were decisions for baptism and people tuning in from all over the world!

Grow Group Opportunities

We're heading into summer, and with that comes new opportunities for Grow Groups!

Grow Groups will meet from June 22–August 3 (just 6 weeks) and will be held online only again this session. Meeting online allows us to seek friendship as well as social, mental, and spiritual engagement together in community, while prioritizing health and safety. Going digital also allows participants who live outside of our local area to join our groups!

Family, Faith, & Fun!

If you live in Michigan, you are now no longer required to stay home. You can head out to safely go exploring once again (with proper precautions of course). While you're out and about, remember to look for evidence of God in nature and notice how God is working in your life or making His presence known to you. Share this "God stuff" (daily blessings) with family members each evening at worship time.

With the end of the Stay Home order, this family life segment will be transitioning to a new focus beginning next week. Stay tuned! In the meantime, join the Pioneer Children & Family Discipleship Facebook group! You'll find a weekly Family Sabbath School video, craft ideas, animal introductions, mission stories, and more!
