SEC STALLION STABLES

The State Equestrian Centre would like to remind everyone that only stallions, colts or geldings are to be stabled in aisle M/N. Mares are not to be stabled in the same aisle as stallions - no exceptions. Stallion disks must be on display at all times.

A REMINDER TO ALL COMPETITORS

Please ensure that if you are entering an EWA event that your horses are entered in their registered name. Failure to do so may result in a Strict Liability offence being imposed. It is also the responsibility of riders to ensure that event organisers have the correct spelling on all official results. Thank you for your cooperation.

EOI FOR NATIONAL ENDURANCE COMMITTEE 2017-2018

Equestrian Australia is calling for Nominations for the EA National Endurance Committee. There are two positions vacant as Robyn Parnell and Melinda Stevens have completed their current term. IMPLEMENTATION OF EA NATIONAL PASSPORT DOCUMENT

As of 1 January 2017, horses that are being registered with the FEI for the first time will need to be identifiable by the EA National Passport. This process will NOT apply to any horse with a current FEI registration number or overseas national passports (KWPN, German Hannover Document etc). MORE

APPLY FOR UP TO $10,000 FOR ACTIVE ADULTS

Giving4Grassroots™ grant rounds happen twice per year, with each round themed at increasing participation in grassroots sport. G4G™ program grants up to $10,000 to community-based organisations and clubs, assisting them to fund activities and programs focused on increasing participation of local community members in sport. THE CLUBBIES ARE BACK

Inside Sport is giving back to the unsung heroes of Australian sport by offering $10,000 in prizes though The Clubbies awards. Award categories include Best Club, Best Coach, Best Stalwart, Best Sports Association and Best Masters Performance.

Nominations close on January 30, with a short-list of nominees appearing in February. Voting continues until April 10, with the winners announced on May 18. MORE

WASF LAUNCHES SAFE CLUBS 4 KIDS VIDEO SERIES

The WA Sports Federation, along with our Fair Safe Sport project partners, has launched the Safe Clubs 4 Kids Video Series in partnership with Channel 7 Perth to promote the message that creating a child safe environment is something we can all do. Six short videos have been developed, designed to be either watched individually or in sequence. MORE

We would like to recommend that all EWA clubs check the Department of Sport and Recreation website for upcoming workshops that could be of interest to your committee, riders and volunteers. DSR holds regular workshops on club management, coaching, officiating, safety and many other topics. MORE


COACHES & OFFICIALS NEWS

EOI FOR COACH UPDATES AND ORIENTATION TO COACHING COURSES

EWA and NCAS are looking to hold Coach Update and Orientation to Coaching courses in March and October for 2017. If you are interested in attending please email your expression of interest to Sara.Botten@equestrianwa.org.au.

Coach Updates generally run for half a day from 8.30am – 12pm.

The Orientation to Coaching course runs over two full days. The following pre-requisites have to be met prior to registering to attend this course:

  • Hold current EWA Membership
  • Hold current First Aid Certificate (eg Provide First Aid Course HTLAID 003)
  • Completed EA Introductory Riding Certificate
  • Completed EA Introductory Horse Management Certificate
  • Completed ASC Beginning Coaching Course (can be done free online www.ausport.gov.au)

REMINDER TO  COACHES

A reminder to all EA registered coaches that it is compulsory to have both a working with children check and a current first aid certificate. EA will not allow coach registration or insurance without these requirements.

DAVID SHOOBRIDGE CLINIC

David Shoobridge is returning to WA on 25/26 November for another clinic. These clinics are always very popular, so get in quick so you don't miss out. The clinic will once again be held at Frances Woods' property under her indoor arena in Forrestdale. Each lesson will cost $190 inclusive of GST and ground fee. 2017 STATE DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS WORKING PARTY

Dressage WA invites expressions of interest to join a working party to help run the State Dressage Championships in May next year. Most of the work is done via email with some meetings. If you have any specific skills and/ or a willingness to help make our next Championships a great event please email either botfam@iinet.net.au or ptspackman@bigpond.com before 30 November.

EVENTING NEWS

VALLEY EQUINE VETERINARY CENTRE

The WA Eventing Committee would like to thank Warwick Vale and the team at Valley Equine Veterinary Centre for their continued support of our state's eventing community.

Valley Equine Veterinary Centre provides $2500 each year to Eventing WA, plus veterinary attendance at one WA FEI CIC/CCI event in an FEI Veterinary Delegate Capacity, and two annual veterinary lectures to WA Eventing Squad Members.

They also sponsor the FEI Young Eventing Rider of the Year Award, which aims to foster the young eventing rider into FEI competitions. The award includes a prize for the most outstanding and successful horse/rider combination of the year and allows for some financial assistance for further training and education for that combination during the following year.

WIN A LESSON WITH BETTINA HOY

Swan River Horse Trials are pleased to announce that they will be hosting the Oakford Equine Hospital and EITP Masterclass this December to help raise funds to run a CIC at Capel next year. The Masterclass will be conducted by Bettina Hoy on the evening of the 9 December 2016 at a venue in Perth. You could be one of the lucky people able to have a lesson with Bettina at the Masterclass! MORE

2017 RISING STARS SQUAD APPLICATIONS OPEN

The Rising Stars Program aims to work closely with the best young equestrian talent in the state to provide a pathway for young riders aspiring to reach the ranks of an EWA High Performance Program and perhaps also National Selection sometime in the future.

Applications are now being accepted from young athletes for the 2017 Squad. MORE

2017 STATE INTERSCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFICATIONS

As part of our duty of care and risk management responsibilities, Interschool WA now requires riders to gain qualifications prior to entering the WA State Interschool Championships.

The 2017 qualification period is 18 March 2016 - 3 March 2017. Qualifications must now be recorded on the Interschool Qualification Card template and submitted to the EWA office by 10 March 2017. MORE


JUMPING - NEWS

EOI FOR JUMPING RIDERS TO REPRESENT AUS IN NZ

Equestrian Australia has received an invitation from the New Zealand Federation for a Young Rider Team (16-21yrs) which will consist of 1 Chef d’Equipe and 4 riders, to compete in the Borrowed Horse Event in Gisborne from 27-29 January 2017. EOI must be submitted by 14 November. MORE
