Rise Up Red IRA to hit shelves this month!

Rise Up Red is one of the first beers brewed at Hopworks and has remained a favorite seasonal release for years. This full-bodied India Red Ale is mahogany in color, smooth, and packed to the rafters with locally grown hops. The beer is part of our NW Legends series, which highlights histories and stories from the Pacific Northwest. Rise Up Red's artwork prominently features our neighbor, Mt. Hood, the majestic mountain we see to our east when the rain stops. Hidden in the scene is D.B. Cooper, infamous for an airplane heist in 1971. Look for this beer throughout the Pacific Northwest beginning this month!

Fry P.A.?

Last month the Hopworks team headed to Boise for a collaborative brew session with our good pals at Payette Brewing. We decided to make a beer that represented our two regions in a playful, lighthearted way. We're known for our hops, and Idaho is known for their potatoes, so we knew an IPA was in the works...Idaho Potato Ale, that is!

Potato Gun is the resulting beer, created with over 50 pounds of organic Idaho purple potatoes and a load of Amarillo, Crystal, and Zeus hops. The beer will be on tap at Hopworks Urban Brewery and Hopworks BikeBar on Wed. Feb. 18th.

We are also throwing a Potato Gun Party at The Civic Taproom in Portland, on Thursday, February 19th. Both breweries will be represented on draft, and you can also look forward to potato menu items and brewery giveaways.

Zwickelmania!

February 14th is a very special day. Not only is it Valentine's Day, and not only is it Oregon's birthday...it's also Zwickelmania! Organized by the Oregon Brewers Guild, Zwickelmania is a day when breweries across our beautiful state open brewery doors to the public. Come in to Hopworks Urban Brewery between 11am - 4pm for an exciting day of festivities. You can sample our pizza, pretzels, and beer, while touring our sustainably run brewing facility.

Feb. 14 / 11am-4pm / Hopworks, 2944 SE Powell Blvd., Portland, OR 97202

Community Tap

Our Community Tap partner for the month of February is Friends of the Children, and our Community Tap Kickoff night is Wed. Feb. 4th, at 6pm

The Community Tap program is one of the ways we are working to expand our definition of sustainability so that it is social in scope. Each Community Tap partner receives 1% of all pint sales at our Powell brew pub during their designated month.

Friends of the Children is part of a nationwide organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty through professional mentoring. Read more about how to help support this great organization, and learn more about FotC by coming to the Community Tap Kickoff Night!

Feb 4th / 6pm / Hopworks, 2944 SE Powell Blvd., Portland, OR 97202

Previous Community Tap partners include Trillium Family Services and Friends of Trees.

In December, we donated 50 cents from every pint of Black Dragon Stout that was sold at our Powell brew pub. Through this initiative we were able to raise $583 for Trillium Family Services. In January, we changed our program so that, moving forward, we give 1% of all our Powell pub's pint sales. With this change we were able to raise $1072 for Friends of Trees!
