eStop approved for use on NZ roading network

The eSTOP was developed as a response to a need for safer working conditions for operators controlling alternating flow situations on job sites.

It is designed to remove operators from hazard zones, but still allowing the operators to manage traffic movement within the worksite from a safe distance.

A specially adapted version of the eStop has been developed to meet NZ requirements and has now been approved for use on the NZ roading network.

For more details, refer to CoPTTM pages of the Transport Agency's website, Section I-19: Register of TTM equipment approved for use on NZ roading network.

Temporary Traffic Management Planning (TTMP) Workshop

The NZ Transport Agency has developed this workshop and introduced a new qualification of Temporary Traffic Management Planner (TTMP). The issuing of this qualification is dependent on the attendees completing the workshop and a back at work assessment.

The 2-day workshop focusses on planning the TTM for a worksite, with an emphasis on worksites that impact lane capacity.

The workshop has been designed with the following roles in mind:

  • TMP designers developing TTM documents
  • Project planners
  • TMCs and other TMP approvers
  • Auditors.

Key dates are as follows:

  • TTM Planners must either hold the warrant or be enrolled on a TTM Planner workshop by 1 April 2020
  • There will be a phase in period through to 1 September 2020 to allow time for people to attend training and complete the assessment
  • By 1 September 2020, all TMPs submitted for approval must be prepared by a CoPTTM warranted TTM Planner (a 2-month extension will be granted to those who attend workshops in August and September 2020)
  • The availability of workshops will continue following 1 September 2020 to cover changing roles.
