EUCanScreen: Ireland’s involvement supports screening as part of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan EUCanScreen project launch, Riga, Latvia, 2024 Through EUCanScreen, Ireland has joined partners and institutions from 29 countries to support population screening programmes aligned with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. Ireland’s partners, which include the Department of Health, Royal College of Surgeons and the National Screening Service, are contributing to all of the project’s 11 workstreams, including leading, co-leading and contributing to activities. We are also working closely with international partners such as the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). How we build equity into our strategic planning: our presentation at international workshop Director of Public Health Dr Caroline Mason Mohan On 6 February, our Director of Public Health Dr Caroline Mason Mohan, delivered a presentation remotely to an audience in Brussels during a workshop titled ‘Using the Equity Standards tool to measure and improve your organisation’s equity performance’. The workshop was organised by the Migration, Equity & Diversity Task Force of the International Network of Health Promoting Hospitals and Health Services. Dr Mason Mohan’s presentation focused on how we have embedded equity into Choose Screening, our 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, and what we have learned along the way. NSS attends the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) expert workshop in Lyon CervicalCheck Clinical Director Prof Nóirín Russell (second from right) chairing the triage session at the Expert Working group meeting in Lyon CervicalCheck Clinical Director Prof Nóirín Russell attended a meeting of the European Commission Initiative on Cervical Cancer (EC-CvC), hosted by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), in Lyon, France, on 19 February. In 2024, Prof Russell was appointed to the Expert Working Group of the EC-CvC, which comprises 22 multidisciplinary professionals with expertise covering the full patient pathway of primary, secondary and tertiary care. The initiative aims to improve how cervical cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis and care are delivered across European countries.
