CoralWatch visiting Indonesia

With support from ISIF Asia, CoralWatch will be visiting INDONESIA  June 18-26 to run workshops and launch our new smartphone APPS! Our trip will start with a day at The University of Udyana in Bali (photo last years visit) followed by a day with the Udyana team and local community at Pandawa Beach. Next up we will be working with  Absolute Scuba Bali to present a Caring for Corals Seminar, in Padangbai. Our last major event is a collaborative event with ReefCheck Indonesia, Coral Reef Alliance, Conservation International and other local partners in Tulamben.   • CoralWatch Info/ Informasi CoralWatch  This educational app provides information about coral bleaching and how you can help improve the future of our reefs!  Use this app to learn what coral bleaching is, what causes it and how it is measured. Discover how to collect coral bleaching data yourself with the Coral Health Chart and contribute to the global coral monitoring program CoralWatch.
  • Data Entry / Memasukkan Data An easy way to enter, view, upload and edit your CoralWatch Coral Health Chart data. It includes Coral Health Chart Tutorial, CoralWatch Video, Demo Mode for classroom purposes and shows the results of your data collection.An easy way to enter, view, and edit your CoralWatch Coral Health Chart data. It includes Coral Health Chart Tutorial, CoralWatch Video, Demo Mode for classroom purpose and shows the results of your data collection.

New website features

While entering data, you might have noticed some major improvements on our website.

  • Location. When entering data for an existing reefs, GPS coordinates now pop up automatically.
  • Confirming your site. To minimize GPS errors in our database you will now be asked to confirm your location.
  • Thank you email with a direct link to your survey results online.
  • Data feedback system. To be launched very soon. This will show a list and map with surveys with a potential bleaching risk.

A Citizen Science Project for Everyone

Citizen Science is the active involvement of the wider community in scientific research – ordinary people from diverse walks of life, of different ages and with difference skills and experiences.
Citizen Science is a fun way to learn and provides everyone with the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to conservation. CoralWatch is a partner of the Great Barrier Reef Citizen Science Alliance which promotes the involvement of citizens with research related to the Great Barrier Reef.
