In the 2* Katja Weiman came 2nd on BP Escapade and Chris Height finished 7th riding Jaybee Castille. Sophia Landy on her first trip to Adelaide placed 5th riding ESB Golden Zone in the Young Rider 2*. Emily Anker placed 6th in the CIC3* riding Glenwood Park Cooper Street, Full results can be found here: http://australian3de.com.au/results/ SAM GRIFFITHS CLINIC AT WERRIBEE PARKSome of our Equissage Young Riders had the opportunity to spend an inspirational day with Australian Olympic bronze medallist Sam Griffiths at WPNEC recently. They did grids in the morning then took to cross country later in the afternoon. Sam certainly knew he was back in Melbourne. On Monday the temperature was 37c then dropping to 18c with drizzle for the Tuesday riders. We loved having him, the riders learnt a lot and we look forward to his return next year. These developments are a work in progress but we would like to think that these can be achieved over the next twelve months. EVENTING RULESREMINDER - EVENTING RULE CHANGES 2017Horses wishing to compete in a CIC or CCI 1* must be registered with the FEI. From 2017 horses registering for the first time must obtain a National passport, (at this stage previously registered horses need only renew). The passport costs $80 and takes time to implement as the ID form must be done by a vet and sent back to EA before it is returned to you … don’t leave it until the last minute. EA have an early bird $60 offer if done before close of business on December 22nd. Please follow the link to take advantage:

What a great Nationals 2016 has been, we've seen the addition of children's classes and competition levels lifted to all new highs across the board. A very big thank you to all those that took part in the 2016 event - Sponsors, Competitors, Judges, Spectators and Supporters. Most importantly THANK YOU to our dedicated, knowledgable team of volunteers and committee members who donate their time to ensure the events success, without all of these wonderful people it simply wouldn't be possible. Bronte Wright (Coordinator) & Sue McKay (Director) you have made every little detail happen and produced a world class event, we are all very grateful. Thank you and we look forward to 2017
JUMPING VICTORIAAs we come to the end of 2016, I would like to thank our jumping officials, coaches, volunteers and riders for their support this year. Jumping is an exciting and entertaining sport, that would not exist without the collective support of all these people. So a massive THANK YOU! RULE CHANGESAs we head into the new year 2017, please remember the new helmet rules come into effect on the 1st January. For information on this please refer http://www.equestrian.org.au/news/helmet-regulations-updated. The responsibility will be on the rider to ensure they meet the new helmet compliance requirements. Also if you are competing, Jumping Victoria are currently completing entry checks for shows prior to competition. Riders are required to have EA memberships for EA affiliated competitions. Horses are required to be registered and hold a Jumping Competition License (Pink card) for official classes – an official class is any height 1.05m and over, has a minimum of $100 prize money and minimum of 10 riders. Please ensure your membership is valid, your horse is registered for official competitions and has a current Jumping Card that has been revalidated since 1st July 2016. If you purchase a horse, please check you transfer ownership into your name as soon as possible, this can be done through the EV office as well as revalidate the jumping license card. We had have cases where the owners don’t renew their membership once the horse is sold, this makes the horse’s membership not valid and will lead to issues if competing in official classes. Equestrian bodies such as Equestrian Queensland have different registration renewal dates (Queensland is December for example) so don’t assume when purchasing interstate horses that they are all registered until June 2017. Congratulations to Yarra Valley Jump Club for hosting a fabulous event including the Victorian State Titles at Wandin Park in December. Congratulations to the 2016 Pryde’s Victorian State titles Champion Borealis Centurion ridden by Russell Johnstone. TRIPLE OLYMPIAN MATT WILLIAMS - INSPIRATIONAL GUEST COACH AT HYGAIN JUNIOR AND YOUNG RIDER SQUAD TRAINING DAYWe have been fortunate to have Matt Williams, triple Olympian and International competitor currently in Australia. Matt was a guest coach at the Hygain Junior and Young Rider Squad training at Werribee Park on the weekend. Matt talked to the Squad members about his experience and his beginning as a Junior State Squad member in Victoria. It was a fabulous and inspiring experience for the Young riders. Don’t forget to like us on Facebook Jumping Vic where we post regular updates and reminders. I would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and safe travels over the New Year. Looking forward to a great year of jumping in 2017. Nina Lewis | Jumping Victoria Coordinator DRESSAGE VICTORIAPRYDE'S EASIFEED 2016 DRESSAGE FESTIVALWe have many people to thank for the smooth running of a successful 2016 Pryde’s EasiFeed Dressage Festival. The Event Director Annabelle Johnstone presented a friendly and professional event. She was hugely supported by Dressage Coordinator, Rebecca Willis who has devoted many hours beyond her normal working hours to ensure that all the requests of riders were attended to. Joan O’Reilly had the challenging role of finding and organising all the volunteers whose T shirts were kindly sponsored by NAB. That was a huge task and we appreciate her commitment to the task. John Nevett has for a number years managed the arena raking and we thank him for his selfless contribution to the event. Libby Farries organised the catering for all the judges and volunteers with her usual happy manner. Aengus Wright and Brian Chevers again commentated throughout the entire event. Kristy-Lee Brilliant did a fantastic job managing our social media communication through Facebook, Instagram and TeamApp, keeping both riders, officials and other interested parties up to date and informed. We thank all the judges for their dedicated contribution to the event. In particular, we thank the judges who have travelled across the state, the land and the globe to work at the 2016 Pryde’s Easifeed Dressage Festival. The many NAB volunteers who ran sheets and pencilled for judges are the engine room for this event. We thank them for their time and encourage all members to offer their time to support the event next year. We are pleased with the smooth running of another the 2016 Pryde’s Easifeed Dressage Festival and look forward to continued additions to format to make it even better next year. Please read my full report on the EV Website Michael Bragge | Chairman, Dressage Victoria The complete revised 1.1. 17 Rulebook with mark-up will soon be available on the EA website.DRESSAGE RULESA reminder to Dressage riders that as of 1/1/2017 EA Dressage rules update. A summary and detail is available on this link. http://www.equestrian.org.au/news/changes-note-2017-dressage-rules HELMET RULE CHANGESThe new year is rapidly approaching. Remember that the helmet rules change on the 1/1/2017! Change in Rule for 2017. It now effectively will be as follows: If aged 22 years and over, at EA FEI level competitions, a rider has the option of wearing either a safety helmet or a top hat. CHANGES TO EA AND EA FEI LEVEL TESTSThere have been some minor changes to our EA and EA FEI level tests and these have been posted on the EA website at http://www.equestrian.org.au/dressage-rule The bridle requirements have been changed for Advanced and FEI level tests. There has been some rejigging of apportionment to movements by the FEI and this is now reflected in FEI level tests - the track has NOT been changed - so greatest impact is for judges. All changes for the tests effective in 2017 are marked in red. Please make sure that all judges, organising committees and riders are aware . Organising committees/clubs , particularly, need to be aware to use the correct EA and EA level tests as on the EA website from 1.1. 2017. INTERSCHOOLS VICTORIAA very big Interschool calendar of events, State and Australian Championships, Eventing qualifiers and Come and Try Clinics has come to an end for 2016. Many of you will be in planning mode for 2017 and the Victorian State Championships on 8th to 12th April 2017. Remember that to enter the State championships you must have competed as a combination (horse and rider) in an Interschool event since the State Championships in April 2016. You do not need a qualifying score, and you do not need to have competed in every discipline, you simply need to have competed at an Interschool event. There will be a few opportunities in early Feb 2017 to participate if you have not done so already. The National Interschool Rules have been updated and several important changes come into effect on 1 January 2017. It is all riders and supporters responsibility to ensure you understand the rules. key changes are as follows:
