Dear ,

I am writing to provide you with information about the lockdown restrictions announced earlier today that impacts Greater Darwin and Katherine from midday today and lasts until midday Thursday 19 August.

During the lockdown, there will only be only five valid reasons to leave home. These are to receive medical treatment, to obtain essential goods and services, to do essential work that cannot be done from home, to exercise for one hour per day no further than 5km from your home and to provide care and support to a person who cannot support themselves. More information is available here.

Masks must be worn if you leave your place of residence for one of these five reasons.

Under the lockdown rules, audiologists are “essential workers” as they are providing “essential health services”. “Essential health services” includes allied health services provided by allied health professionals when providing critical clinical care.

Audiologists are asked to use their discretion and clinical judgement to prioritise the patients who need critical clinical care coming into their clinics, to minimise community movements in the lockdown locations and support the use of telehealth wherever clinically possible.

Please stay safe, and if there is anything we can do to assist you during this time, please don't hesitate to contact the office on 03 9940 3900 or email: info@audiology.asn.au

Yours sincerely,

Dr Tony Coles
