It's less than a week until Louisville's best fundraiser of the holiday season: the ninth annual Give-A-Jam is Thursday, 12/19, from 7-10pm! Buy $25 tickets online (plus fees), or purchase in person to save on online fees at your fabulous local Carmichael's book store or Headliners (with cash only during box office hours: 2-6pm, M-F). Tickets go up to $30 at the door! Our VIP tickets are also selling fast, but still available. For only $70 in advance or $75 at the door (if we don't sell out), you can access free reserved parking, balcony seating, a private cash bar, free hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants, plus a bowl of soup while supplies last. These are also available online, at Carmichael's, or at Headliners. Give-A-Jam brings together dozens of talented local musicians for one night of amazing local music—and all proceeds support the Coalition's critical initiatives to move young people off the streets and into housing. This year's event features these musicians, who have generously donated their time to raise money for this cause:
A bowl of delicious soup (donated by Chef Finbar Kinsella!) is included in each ticket while supplies last. Please also come prepared to buy raffle tickets for our bourbon basket! There will be a cash bar, too. We have a few great volunteer opportunities left! Sign up here. And if you'd like to donate your signature baked good for the night, please email Natalie. You can drop it off at the the Coalition or bring it to Headliners. See you next Thursday! Each January, the Coalition for the Homeless conducts a Street Count to verify the number of people sleeping outdoors in our city. We rely heavily on volunteers for this effort; the more we have, the more areas we can cover, and the greater our chances are of getting an accurate count. The 2020 Street Count has been scheduled for Thursday, January 30, from 4:30-6:30am (meeting at Hotel Louisville at 4:15am and coming back afterwards for a warm breakfast) and the mandatory training session for all volunteers is the day prior, Wednesday, January 29, from 6-7pm (also at Hotel Louisville). Please note that there are a few significant changes this year, including electronic surveys, neighborhood requests, and 16-17 year olds being invited to participate with a legal guardian. Learn more and register at the form at the bottom of this page. Form not working? Try this link. Have other questions? Please email Erin. This holiday season, give the gift of home to a young person like Paxton. All gifts made by 12/31 will be doubled! Paxton is a 24-year-old who has been living on our streets for five months. He is a survivor of abuse and trauma. But his life is about to change. And after months of sleeping at St. Vincent de Paul, he will be in a new apartment by the new year—thanks to a new program we launched at Home of the Innocents. Every gift made by December 31 will be matched! Please give generously. Thank you!
