NewsletterAs of mid-March, The Sheep Collective and The Cattle Collective have merged to be encompassed under one umbrella - The Livestock Collective! The Livestock Collective’s vision and mission remain as steadfast as ever: VISION For every person to have a connection and shared understanding of agriculture. MISSION To promote a collaborative, united livestock sector that provides visibility, communication, and engagement to the wider community thus ensuring an increased understanding of and connection to the livestock industry and agriculture more broadly.
VALUES Connection Leadership Visibility Communication We will continue to empower supply chain participants, provide firsthand information from the salt of the earth people working around Australia, and the world, in the live export industry to help provide a balanced view to the wider community. Meet Our Team Our directors John Cunnington, Holly Ludeman, and Steven Bolt bring a wealth of industry knowledge from many different areas of the agricultural industry to The Livestock Collective. This ranges from Veterinary expertise to on-farm experience in both the cattle and sheep industry sectors. All members of the board also hold a number of other board and industry committee positions. Out team are strong believers in collaboration with the wider industry. Amongst all the March madness of transitioning to a new brand and finalising our website, Project Manager Kate Bishop stepped into the new journey of motherhood! Kate worked incredibly hard on many different initiatives for the Collective and we are all super excited to see this journey unfold for her and her family. In the meantime, Grayson Webster will be learning the ropes and is very excited to be able to develop a new skill set here at The Livestock Collective. Grayson's story was recently covered by Farm Weekly. New Website! The Livestock Collective has launched a new website and we can be found here. One of the features is an FAQ page where we hope people can learn more about the inside workings of the live export supply chains for both sheep and cattle. If you have any feedback for us on questions we may not have been able to address yet, please let us know by sending through an email to: info@thelivestockcollective.com.au COVID-19 & Live ExportsCOVID-19 certainly disrupted our calendar for 2020, as we are sure it did yours as well! However, we have found this time incredibly useful to reflect on how we as a brand can continue to achieve our objectives, engage a wider audience and promote the importance of food security, not only in Australia but around the world and the many countries that live exports support during this time of need. For more information on how COVID-19 impacts the daily operation of trade, you can read our blog here. Events The pandemic has caused some industries to slow down during this time and a number of events have been either cancelled or postponed to 2021, the forefront of agricultural Australia has not slowed and neither has The Livestock Collective. Innovating and adapting to the conditions saw our founder and Managing Director, Holly Ludeman, present at the neXtgen Agri Head Shepherd online conference in mid-April. Holly was able to share how transparency builds trust and how The Sheep Collective redefined the face of the industry. Livestock Leaders In February we held our pilot Livestock Leader’s workshop in partnership with Meat & Livestock Australia in Perth. Livestock Leader’s is a professional development workshop aimed at building the capacity of current supply chain champions involved in the livestock production sector, to be future leaders, influencers, and advocates of the Australian red meat industry. The 2-day event saw 16 supply chain champions participate in the course, learning about values-based communication, interview and presentation skills, how to engage and speak to the media, building a brand on social media, and how to have difficult conversations. Many of the leaders have gone on to produce content of their own and be interviewed by the media. In the coming weeks, we will be showcasing each individual Livestock Leader and the integral role they play in our supply chain via our social media platforms. Due to the current climate, The Livestock Collective is working to pivot aspects of our organisation to an online platform. We are working to host the next Livestock Leaders workshop later in 2020, potentially online. 2021 Event Wish list We are looking forward to getting back out and about in 2021 with a number of events already on our yearly planner!
We will also continue our vessel tours as soon as we are able to. Our vessel tours are designed to provide a first-hand look into the intricate workings of a live export ship and therefore build a first-hand understanding of the process. They were a resounding success in 2019, with a total of 400 participants including producers, industry stakeholders, media, politicians, and university students. From industry conferences to rural and regional shows to vessel tours - we would love to see you. If you have an event you think we should be at, or want to go on a vessel tour, let us know. Maybe you can join in on a virtual vessel tour instead. info@thelivestockcollective.com.au To Keep Up To Date!Don't forget to follow us on social media for regular updates on various projects & industry stories!
