Grow Ministries eNews

WELCOME

Welcome to our May eNews! There always seems to be a lot happening in our little department and this month is no exception. We had a great weekend at SA District Convention. It was lovely to meet some new people and to get reaquainted with some 'old' ones. The end of May sees us heading off to Qld for their Convention and to have a special meeting with those who work in Child, Youth and Family Ministry.

We hope you enjoy reading the latest news and if you know someone who may be interested in receiving our eNews please make sure you forward this on or get them to sign up at by contacting Leah: leah.cronin@lca.org.au

The GIFT Pentecost resource is a disk full of ideas to help share the story of Pentecost with your congregation.

Recently we received this great review from Norwin in QLD…"I want to thank Jo (and the rest of the team) on behalf of our congregation for the excellent resources on the GIFT CD.  We have used many of the Lent/Easter ideas in two services that we have had recently, one for Palm Sunday and they have been very well received.

We are only a small rural congregation but are blessed to have 14 children in our Sunday School and more to follow.  Our Sunday School and Church Worship Committee are always seeking out different things to try or to enhance what we already do, so the GIFT resource was certainly a very easy way for us to do that."

Farewell to Jo Jones

It is with sadness we say goodbye to Jo Jones from the Grow Ministries team.

We would like to thank Jo for her amazing work over the last two years particularly in supporting our FaithInk members and sharing enthusiastically the Faith5 and the FaithInk system of ministry and resources. We thank her also for her creativity in developing our new GIFT resources.  We will miss Jo’s passion and enthusiasm and her dedication in helping us all catch the vision of inter-generational ministry.

We wish Jo God’s richest blessings as she concludes her role with us and seeks to find work in the future.

A message from Jo…
"My service to God does not end here, it just takes another path. I know God will guide me and use me to His Glory wherever I am. God has blessed me richly while working for Grow Ministries and I cannot speak highly enough of this team and their dedication to serve and support God's church, especially it's children, youth and families.  May the Lord's light shine in you always."
Jo Jones

Welcome to Shannon Schuster

Hi, I’m Shannon Schuster, Resource Coordinator for Grow Ministries with a focus on children and their families. I live in the beautiful Barossa Valley, SA with my husband Nick and our three wonderful girls, Elsa, Maddie and Tessa.

One of the many bible verses that speaks to my heart is:
But Jesus said “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14 ESV

Exploring and discovering ways to help the spiritual guidance of children is my passion. How can we work together with the Holy Spirit to help our future generations come into relationship with their Father? Our role of planting the seed, watering it and trusting the Holy Spirit to do His work sounds straight forward.  However the work of building relationships takes time and commitment (and is far from being straight forward).

It is easy to see a child as an empty cup that needs to be filled up. Our Heavenly Father desires to be in relationship with all of His children. I believe that ‘knowing’ our children, sharing His word with them, praying with them and for them, being in community together with them and blessing them in their faith walk from the early years, is essential. This is the foundation for their life long journey as they learn what it is to have a relationship with our Father.

Faith formation in our children will always have the greatest influence from their parents and family in the home; however as a community and as a church we are all responsible for the nurturing of faith formation in our children.

“Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” Mark 10:15 ESV

One the best ways to ‘receive the kingdom of God like a child’ is to walk with children and be daily reminded what it is to be ‘like a child’.

It is an honour to be serving in this role and I hope together with the Grow Ministries team that we can support, encourage, equip and empower you in your Children, Youth and Family Ministry, however that may look and wherever you may be.

Be Blessed in Him
Shannon
