PNA: "Community Begins Here"

PNA HIGHLIGHTS & HAPPENINGS

Be the Power of Community for older adults

Graphic with colorful text stating, The 11th Annual Power of Community", and two photos of Sandi and Dorothy in the Greenwood Senior Center lobby and Sandi chatting with GSC Therapeutic Consultant Lisa

Today, you can be the power of community. You can make a difference in the lives of older adults, like Sandi and Dorothy. Sandi brings her mom Dorothy to lunch at the Greenwood Senior Center and attends our support group, Adult Daughters Caring for their Mothers. "It is exactly the sort of support group I need... I have received such useful information, resources, and support from those who attend and support their mothers, like I do.”

Caring for caregivers is just one way that our senior programs support the journey of getting older, for everyone. Our annual Power of Community fundraiser celebrates these connections and the many more we create every day for families like Sandi and Dorothy. Our goal is to raise $60,000 and we need your help to reach it!

Mission Moments

Clockwise from top left: smiling artist with their booth outside during the PhinneyWood Art Walk, couple admires art surrounded by faucets in a showroom, and art walk attendees admire canvas with an artist.

The PhinneyWood Art Walk brought out hundreds of community members for local art, music, and eats on Sept. 23 and 24. More than 40 local businesses hosted many great artists during this fun neighborhood party. Thank you to everyone who supported, participated in, and turned out for the art walk! Check out our blog to see more great PhinneyWood Art Walk photos.

This year’s limited edition PhinneyWood Art Walk poster and sticker are on still sale in our Blue Building. Posters cost $25 each, stickers cost $3 each, and we accept credit card or check. Proceeds support our community events, including the PhinneyWood Art Walk!

Clockwise from left: shoppers peruse stone fruits and cherries at the market, Phinney Farmers Market staff smiles from their booth, and vendor smiles with pickled goods, garlic, and other produce at the market.

The end of summer means the end of Phinney Farmers Market season! Community members made over 18,000 visits to the market between June 3 and Sept. 30 and spent over $400,000 supporting local farmers and vendors. These purchases put every dollar directly into the hands of the people who produce our food. This direct buying helps keep local, sustainable farmland in production and improves community food security.

Thank you to our market partner Seattle Neighborhood Farmers Markets, all of the farmers and vendors, and everyone who shopped local at the Phinney Farmers Market!
