How to save energy this fall Pumpkins, holidays, and cozy sweaters are things to look forward to as we move into the end of the year. However, colder weather and shorter days mean that most people are using additional energy for heating and lighting. To help you adjust to the changing season, we have included some easy tips for saving energy in your home. 1. Install LED lights: LED lights have a longer life span, consume less energy, and have better lighting and dimming qualities. 2. Wash with cold water whenever possible: Almost 90% of the energy consumed by a washing machine is used to heat the water. Use less energy by washing with cold water instead. 3. Clean out your fridge: Getting rid of spoiled and unused food, as well as limiting the amount of time your fridge doors are open, will reduce costs and allow for better air circulation.
