Suicide Prevention for MenIt can be difficult for some men to talk about their stress and emotions, which can sometimes lead to harmful behaviours and thoughts. The Centre for Suicide Prevention has created a suicide prevention campaign for men called Buddy Up. The goal is to encourage men to have real conversations with their peers and support them if they are having thoughts of suicide. This resource includes information on warning signs and tips on how to prevent suicide in men. Harm Reduction is CompassionStreetWorks provides harm reduction supplies and education to the entire Niagara Region while also being home to the Consumption and Treatment Service (CTS). They provide mobile outreach service, informal counselling, case management, STI testing, and overdose prevention and response training (Naloxone). Prenatal ServicesNiagara Region Public Health (NRPH) offers a variety of prenatal services to support expectant parents in their pregnancy journey. For clients who could benefit from additional support, NRPH offers a home-visiting service and drop-in group prenatal programming to improve social support, emotional wellbeing, and prenatal/postpartum health. Individuals can create a personalized suicide safety plan, which can be done with their health care professional, loved one, or trusted friend. Family Mental Health Support NetworkThe Family Mental Health Support Network offers a variety of programs. Join in for their Mindfulness and Meditation webinar on Monday evenings and dive into mindfulness-based self-care from the comfort of your own home, or participate in their weekly book club where they discuss their book of the month.
