This week the Houston GLBT Political Caucus PAC endorsed Sylvia Garcia as the fighter they want in Austin.

“The caucus brings a wealth of volunteers and passion to our campaign so I am grateful for their support. During the screening process we discussed the serious issues around healthcare and social justice that impact all of us and have to be addressed in Austin. I will stand with the membership of the caucus and the families of Senate District 6 in the fight for fairness and equality for all,” said Garcia.

Sylvia is looking forward to the first forums of the campaign to talk about how she will fight for solutions for accessible healthcare and creating jobs with fair wages. Early voting starts in just 5 days! We are working hard to make sure our campaign has talked to every voter in the district so they know how important it is to vote in this special election. We have knocked on thousands of doors and our mail is landing in mailboxes but the district is large and we have so much more work to do to guarantee we have a fighter for jobs and healthcare in Austin.

• HQ Phone Bank: Meet at 1 PM at our campaign headquarters at (12753 East Frwy I-10 and Normandy)

SUNDAY, JAN 6TH

Afternoon Phone Bank: Join us at headquarters (12753 East Frwy) this Sunday at 1 PM to make calls to your friends and neighbors to make sure we’re making the best of this day! We will also need help with other activities to get us ready for Early Vote.

Happy New Year! I hope 2013 will be the year all of your wishes come true. My wish is to serve you in Austin as a leader who will take on Governor Perry and his attacks on public education and healthcare for our moms, daughters and sisters. Community leaders, elected officials and many different organizations continue to join our campaign. This election is about you and your families. Speaking of families, you may have noticed many of my family members joining me on the campaign trail. My sister Junie and my great nephew Dylan (pictured) have joined us at the campaign HQ and at events, as well as my great nephew Dino and my great niece Lynnette. Please help by joining our campaign family this weekend. Our time is short and the work long but together we will make a tremendous difference in Austin and Texas for the families of Senate District 6. Let's start 2013 by sending a strong message throughout the district that we will not stand by quietly, we will fight for a Texas that fights for us.
