Personal protective equipment (PPE) buyers guide

The Australian Government has released a guide to help buyers be more confident when buying PPE. It contains information about PPE and factors to be aware of when buying it.

Key points 

  • The Australian Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources has released a guide containing information about PPE and what to look for when buying it.
  • Contact the National Medical Stockpile if you are unable to access PPE through your usual means.
  • Always follow local health guidelines about when and where to use PPE.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Buyers Guide

The Australian Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources has released a guide containing information about PPE and what to look for when buying it.

The Personal Protective Equipment Buyers Guide (PDF, 1.8MB) aims to help you feel more confident when buying PPE by explaining:

  • what some common types of PPE are used for
  • things to look for when buying PPE
  • where you can buy PPE
  • how to protect yourself from fraud.

This resource is available on the Department of Health website. 

If you are unable to access PPE supplies through your usual means, you can email the National Medical Stockpile at NDISCOVIDPPE@health.gov.au.

Check local guidance about using PPE

To ensure you and your workers are complying with local guidance, please stay updated with the latest advice from your state or territory’s public health unit about when and where to use PPE while supporting people with disability.
