A couple of other  items to mention:

Beer Can Races are starting up in April.  But wait, you say, that is just for racers and crew.    But I say no!  It is a perfect opportunity for a mid-week social call to your club for a burger and beer and a little schmoozing with your friends.   Hmmm, maybe it is something to check out...

And there is more going on mid-week.   Winston and Carole are serving a Wednesday Lunch on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.  I can attest to the fact that the food is very good and the view of our sunny marina is very relaxing.  It is a perfect break in the day.

On Sunday, April 6that 3pm, Sue Lockwood is organizing “Walk the Dish”, to be followed by a trip to The Saddleroom in Redwood City.

The walk is about 4 miles on a paved path winding through the Stanford foothills.  Be prepared for cows, horses, tarantulas, blue birds, ground squirrels, hawks, and a great view of the bay.  Meet in the parking area on Alpine Road, just east of 280 (Alpine Road & Piers Lane, Portola Valley on Google Maps).  We’ll walk for about 1-½ hours.

And if you’re willing to share in one of Sue’s bucket list items, head over to The Saddleroom on Woodside Road after the walk.  Perhaps you’ve been there, but if not, this is the day to see what goes on in “The Last Neighborhood Bar in Redwood City”!  If it’s too skanky… at least we’ll be together.

Let Sue know if you’d like to walk or would like more information.  slockwood@fordlandco.com

This event will be cancelled if it’s raining.

Looking ahead to early April we have a Drop In Dinner and General Meeting on Friday April 11th.  We will be having a Meatball Madness dinner and I understand a cruise-in by the Sausalito Yacht Club.

On April 25th we have our Sequoia Rocks! social event.  We will have dinner and dancing with the band Classic Vinyl. The next morning we have Club Clean-up!  How great is that? Neither is to be missed.

I hope to see you at the club.

Dan Lockwood, Vice Commodore

PICYA Delegates Dinner April 7th

I wanted let you know that we have the privilege of hosting the PICYA (Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association) Delegates dinner again this year on Monday April 7th. The PICYA is made up of delegates from over 100 yacht clubs in Northern California. This will be a great way for us to show off our great club during our 75th Anniversary year. We expect to have over 100 delegates attending and Steve Higgs will be cooking up a great meal for our guests and Nancy McHugh is putting together floral centerpieces for the event.

I have a few people that have volunteered to bartend, but I could still use some help serving between 7 – 8 pm.

If you can help please let me know and help show the rest of the clubs what a terrific club Sequoia Yacht Club is. If you would like to help just let me know by sending me  an email to commodore@sequoiayc.org or call me at 650-644-7968.

Thanks in advance for your help and support,

Winston Bumpus, Commodore
