Webinar: Infection prevention and control for the disability support sector

The Australian Government Department of Health will hold a webinar on Infection Prevention and Control for the Disability Support Sector on Wednesday, 7 October from 11:30am to 12:15pm (AEDT).

This 45-minute webinar on the appropriate use of PPE and infection control measures in disability settings will be delivered by Professor Alison McMillan, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, and a panel of other experts.

The webinar aims to help reduce some of the anxiety held by many disability workers who may have had little experience with using PPE, especially with highly infectious disease.

The panel will include:

  • Professor Alison McMillan, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Department of Health
  • Professor Nick Lennox, Senior Medical Advisor, Disability and Health, Department of Health
  • Dr Gary Lum, Principal Medical Advisor, COVID-19 Response: Infection Prevention and Control, Department of Health
  • Dr David Ashbridge, Strategic Health Advisor, National Disability Insurance Agency
  • Ms Samantha Taylor PSM, Registrar, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission

Panel members will be available to answer your specific questions about using PPE (including masks), infection control and the challenges faced by the disability sector in implementing effective infection control measures.

We invite you and your workers to join this webinar to obtain simple and accurate information about risk, and clear and easy instructions about using PPE.

Access the webinar at 11.30am on Wednesday 7 October at publish.viostream.com/app/s-n98xjka

If you or any of your workers are unable to join at the scheduled time, the webinar will be recorded and made available on the Department of Health’s website.
