"God's Waiting Room"
Your pastors are crafting a new collection of Livestream homilies to deal with a menagerie of lockdown emotions—unwelcome houseguests of sorts, like the yowling neighbor’s cat you wish you’d never volunteered to board—fear, loneliness, anxiety, discouragement—unwanted companions inside the four walls of “God’s Waiting Room.” Turns out a veritable Who’s Who of fellow sufferers knew this waiting room rather well. Join us Sabbath May 9 for the pandemic lockdown’s next chapter.

And Now Famine?

You probably saw the headline a few days ago, “As famines of ‘biblical proportion’ loom, Security Council urged to ‘act fast.’” Biblical proportions? Weren’t we talking about famines a few days ago ourselves? “Noting that the global spread of COVID-19 this year has sparked 'the worst humanitarian crisis since World War Two', Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) David Beasley pointed to deepening crises, more frequent natural disasters and changing weather patterns, saying 'we’re already facing a perfect storm’.”

Family, Faith, & Fun!

It looks like it might be a bit rainy in the next few days. Here are a few things you can do when it’s raining:

  • Create Rain Art: Color on heavy cardstock with washable markers, then set out your pictures in the rain and watch the colors swirl and blend. If it doesn’t happen to be raining, you can also use a spray bottle or small watering can make the same effect.
  • Make Rain Music: Set out bowls/pots/pans/buckets/bottles, tin foil, even a toy xylophone and listen to the music created by the raindrops.
  • Play “Pooh Sticks”: During or after the rain, stand on the upstream side of a bridge and drop sticks into the stream below. Move to the other side of the bridge to see which stick appears first.
  • Remember to look for the rainbow after the rain!

Community Apple Drive Through

Pioneer is happy to be partnering with Trinity Lutheran and Berrien Center Bible Church with a community drive through. Pick up a bag of apples, courtesy of Hildebrand Fruit Farms, this Friday, May 1, starting at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran School in Berrien Springs. Come pick up a bag of goodness, see a few smiling (behind masks) faces, and just get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine on Friday. We will be there until the apples are gone!

Pick-up Location: 9123 George Ave, Berrien Springs, MI 49103
Drive through opens at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 1

COVID-19 Resources

Self-isolating because of COVID-19? We are here to help! We have a team of volunteers who can help pick up things for you like groceries or medicine, and they can even call you to pray with you. Let us know how we can help!
