2015/16 RCA data quality reports now available online

Story
Story

As we have indicated in previous communications REG is undertaking a project to progressively assess the data quality across the sector and develop improvement programmes. Information about the data quality project is available here.

REG has been testing the quality of the RCA RAMM data used by the ONRC Performance Measures Reporting Tool. We have assessed data quality for each RCA network and the overall national results, based on 33 data quality metrics that interrogates all RCAs RAMM data for completeness, accuracy and timeliness.

We have produced new data quality reports for each RCA, based on data within the NZ Transport Agency data warehouse in September 2016. These and the previous prototype results (September 2015) are now available online here. Since production of the 2014/15 data quality reports, minor changes have been made to the metrics and the queries used to determine the results. The queries and changes are available here.

The Transport Agency controlled networks are also being analysed and will be incorporated into the framework and future results.

REG will be expecting RCAs to improve their data quality to achieve the expected standard over time shifting the RCA and national result into the “green zone” for each metric. We suggest each RCA considers their results and incorporates improvements in their 2018/21 AMP improvement plan.

REG is now considering these two sets of results and are identifying options to address the data quality issues. We expect to advise the sector of the improvement programme in October 2017.

REG would also like your feedback on the usefulness of the data quality framework and the content of this second report. We’d like an indication of whether the assessment is meaningful, reflects your expectations of your networks data quality, and why there are notable changes in your results (where relevant).

Please send your feedback to roadefficiencygroup@nzta.govt.nz by the end of Friday 11 August. Your feedback will help shape the next phase of this work and improvement programmes to ensure what we provide is useful and meaningful to you.
