All Calvary Staff | Mandatory Vaccination by 1 Nov 2021

28 September 2021

Dear Colleagues,

In delivering our mission to provide care to those in need, we at Calvary must do all we can to protect and keep safe our patients, residents and clients who may be placed at significant risk if they are exposed to, and contract the COVID-19 virus.

To achieve this, Calvary has introduced the Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy applicable to all Calvary staff. The Policy has now been approved by the National Executive Leadership Team (NELT).

As part of the consultation process in considering a Calvary wide policy, a draft of the Calvary Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy was provided to over 300 Calvary employees selected randomly to cover demographics of gender, age, professional work group and location to gather feedback, as well as all relevant Unions who represent Calvary employees to gather their feedback and suggestions. We received a variety of responses and very helpful suggestions and ideas, many of which have been incorporated into the Policy. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

A full list of Q&As gathered throughout consultation can be found here or can also be accessed on Calvary Connect – please search under Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination.

Some key considerations for staff have been outlined below:

  • The Policy mandates that all Calvary staff must have at least their first COVID-19 Vaccination by 1 November 2021.
  • The Policy makes provision for two hours of paid time for staff to obtain the COVID-19 Vaccine.
  • The Policy makes provision for a back-payment for those staff members who have already obtained the vaccination in their own time, and who would have been eligible for the payment had the Policy been in place at that time.
  • The Policy also provides information around managing staff exemptions.

A full list of resources for staff can be found here and information for managers is available through contacting your Regional Director of People & Culture.

Please familiarise yourself with the Policy and if you have any questions please speak with your Manager or your local Human Resources representative. You may also email covidvaccinations@calvarycare.org.au with any queries.

Thank-you for your assistance

Regards

Martin Bowles, National CEO
