The second version of the asset management data standard is being released on Friday 30 October
The second version of the asset management data standard is being released on Friday 30 October on www.nzta.govt.nz/amds.
The second release will include three asset types:
• Locations
• Zones
• Devices
A draft cross-agency Location referencing standard is the first major component. It proposes a location referencing standard to be used across sectors and infrastructure types. It proposes a spatial first concept, with linear referencing and centre-line included for pavement and surface and rail assets.
The second significant and related area is the concept of zones. Zones will allow us to capture multiple overlays to transport assets including environment, heritage, safety, speed, multi-modal and land use areas. It will help to resolve the handling of lanes, centre-line and linear referencing. Release v0.2 will then add to the "devices" group and will include physical traffic controlling devices like traffic islands, speed humps and road markings plus street lights.
Once the version is released, we will be asking for review and feedback by December 18 2020 from road controlling authoties, data system developers, solutions providers, and anyone with an interest in the development and implementation of the standard. This feedback enables us to develop the standard
'When we started this programme we realised that for the model to be interoperable with other sectors and across Government we would need to build a Location Standard that reflects and unifies best practice. This is because the efficient and effective design, build and maintenance of assets hinges on accurate and relevant location of assets in space and in relation to other infrastructure. The reference group has been extremely generous with their expertise to help us to integrate concepts the location of road, rail, water, land etc. The draft location standard that comes out of that work is the first step in creating wide consensus and cross sector collaboration and we hope, agreement on a consistent national location standard.' The AMDS team continues to work closely with REG and the sector, visting approximately 42 RCAs with a plan to meet all RCAs by the end of November.
'The entire success of the programme depends on REG and engagement across all levels has been impressive and puts us in a really good position come implementation, June 2021.The adoption of the new standard is a key driver to improve the quality of data and lead improved decision making by the sector’ Shane Gorinski, Relationship Manager, Asset Management Data Standard Programme.
