Lots to talk about today - most especially the winners of the 2019 Visioning the Outdoors Film & Photo Comp and the new Activate! Queensland strategy. We also have a couple of important reminders for you as well - nominations for the Outdoors Queensland Awards and bookings for the Critical Incident Management Planning workshops in August and September.

As the quality of the entries was generally very high, the judges had to consider very carefully - after careful deliberation and reviewing all the entries we are pleased to announce the following winners.

“I would like to extend a warm thank you and congratulations to the film entrants in the 2019 Visioning the Outdoors competition. There’s no better place to film and share your experiences than in the great outdoors. All the films presented this year had strengths, whether it be the quality of the filming, the editing, the soundtrack or the locations shown. Activate! Queensland

Launched by Minister Mick de Brenni on Saturday July 27, "Activate! Queensland is a whole of government approach that will see $506.4 million invested over the next three years to get all Queenslanders more physically active, more often"

 

Minister de Brenni noted that collaboration with local communities would be at the heart of the infrastructure investment.

“By listening to clubs, families, and sportspeople across the State, we’ve identified how to develop infrastructure solutions that promote active participation opportunities for all Queenslanders

QORF is pleased to have been involved during 2018 and 2019 in the development of this government strategy regarding sport and active recreation. Activate! Queensland is intended to shape how outdoor recreation and sport are delivered across Queensland for the next decade. 

NOTE: We are holding an Industry Briefing Session on Tuesday 6 August 2019 from 8.30 am (sharp) to 1.30 pm to outline the relevance of Activate! Queensland 2019 – 2029 to the outdoor sector. Please put this date in your diaries and RSVP as soon as possible.
