Grade Level Zoom Coffees for Remote Learning UnderwayWe would like to thank parents of Pre-K 3 through 1st grade students for attending today's Zoom Coffees with Jennifer Ketchum and Ashley Davis. We also want to welcome parents of 2nd-6th grade students to attend their respective coffees next week. These Zoom meetings have been beneficial for administrators and parents to discuss the highlights and challenges of remote learning. We also would simply like to check in with you in general - we certainly miss seeing our BES families! Zoom Coffees will last 30-45 minutes, and the school will send specific Zoom links for each grade level coffee about 15 minutes before each session begins. Parents of more than one student will receive invitations for each of their children’s grade level group. Below is the remaining schedule of Zoom Coffee dates, so please make plans to attend if you can. Tuesday, April 14
Wednesday, April 15
Pave the Way for Future Generations by Purchasing a BES Brick for a Loved OneSupport BES by purchasing a brick for a loved one. This is a wonderful way to honor your child, grandchild, your family, and our school. All personalized bricks are located in the center of McCormick Hall for all the children to enjoy. This is a perfect location for the kids to look down and see their name in a brick, along with the names of their friends and classmates. Each brick can consist of up to 3 lines. There are 20 characters per line, which may consist of letters and spaces. Bricks are $75, and families can either download, complete, and scan the BES Brick Flyer to Stacy Nash or simply email her with the information requested from the flyer. Families will be billed through FACTS, and the deadline to purchase bricks is Friday, May 1, 2020. This is the last year we will include BES on the brick, so get in your orders today! Heartwarming Video of Mrs. Palmer Spreading Love to Students on Her Own BirthdayIN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Watch this beautiful video of Mrs. Palmer's birthday, which was spent spreading love and joy to her Pre-K students. She traveled to each of her students' homes and left behind donuts, an encouraging note, and a yard sign with the words, "My Teacher Misses Me." Remote Learning Email HighlightsWe thought we would reiterate a couple of highlights from Mrs. Ketchum's email to families this week about a couple of changes to Parent-Teacher Conference Day, Zoom Conferences, Remote Chapel, and Flag Ceremony. Parent-Teacher Conference Day: Parent-Teacher conferences have been rescheduled to Monday, April 27. Homeroom teachers will conduct these conferences via Zoom. Please look for a Sign-Up Genius invite from your child(ren)’s teacher in the near future. Tuesday, April 14, the original Parent-Teacher Conference Day, will be a regular school day (remotely). Enrichment Zoom Conferences: After the Easter Break, starting on Tuesday, April 14, Enrichment Zoom conferences will be mandatory again for Grades 3-6. This will have allowed plenty of time for families and students to adjust to the online platforms. Enrichment Zoom conferences will remain optional for Pre-K - Grade 2, but participation is strongly encouraged. As we settle into the remote learning routine, please be mindful of the fact that the teachers need to try to live a balanced life between work and home. We realize everyone has been working overtime – teachers, administrators, and families – to implement this new type of learning for our students, especially within such a short period of time. However, in order to sustain a quality program, the teachers need to have time to rest and tend to their life at home. We want them to remain well! Therefore, we ask that you do not expect them to respond to you in the evening hours or over the weekends. They are expected to respond to you within one school day, as normal. Thank you again for your understanding! BES Remote Chapel: We have begun offering a weekly, pre-recorded Remote Chapel time on Wednesdays. The chapel will include scripture, a devotional, prayer, and/or song. The link will be emailed to you and added to social media each Wednesday morning by 8:00. Watch the Remote Chapel video from this week here. Flag Ceremony will be pre-recorded so homeroom teachers can share it with students each Friday morning. Watch the first Flag Ceremony video from last week here. Share Remote Learning Photos on Social MediaOur third week of remote learning has produced some wonderful and unique learning experiences for our students and teachers. We ask that you tag photos of your students in action with #BESremotelearning on your social media posts. Our school community can then share in the unique joy that virtual school produces in our students. Thank you for your partnership! |
